BBC: Women Still Victims of Computer Game Oppression

"The debate about how to get women more involved in gaming is a perennial one and one on which there is pretty wide agreement that not enough is being done."

Another bizarre story from the BBC femi-socialist propaganda machine. Apparently the 'male-dominated' computer games industry is not doing enough to make women feel included. Apparently "There needs to be changes across the board."(sic)

However, even the author admits that this story is a complete non-issue.

"There is evidence to suggest that, despite the obstacles, young girls carry on playing games. Research done by gaming firm Electronic Arts' found that 40% of teenage girls played video games but, crucially, they seem to lose interest within a year."

Well there you have it then. Girls who want to play computer games play them, and those who don't, don't. End of story.

What motivates this kind of bizarre reasoning? Is it jealousy? Boys love computer games, and so their pleasure has to be spoiled? They fail to understand that this is a free market. The talk is all about what the industry has to do to please them.

Why don't feminists write their own games if they feel like that? How about a strategy game called 'Uncivilisation', in which your community of wimmin has to cultivate lentils in the fields and sell them, and use the money to construct a temple to the Goddess, and then split up all the marriages in the village. The winner is the first one who causes half the men to kill themselves.

Maybe more boys are playing video games because it's one of the last places on earth a male can go to without feminists bad-mouthing the male population. Maybe they play games because all other areas of interest are being infested with feminists. Sports? Nah. Movies? Forget that. TV shows? Please. Every other medium is too much of a pain in the ass. When I was little, I noticed that the only place in the world without "girls before boys, now it's equal" mentality, it seemed, was video games.

Why would women (mothers) want their little girls sitting around playing video games? Video games take away from valuable outdoor playing and studying, leading to poorer results in school.

Question should not be how to make more girls play video games, it should be how to make boys play less.

the media isn't feminising video games because it gives them the perfect excuse to brand boys as future mass killers.

why else do they blame most violence on video games?

besides, some of those games try to sell by appealing to teenage hormones instead of interesting gameplay.

the more popular of those would be the Dead or Alive series. everything about that series is about chicks in tight and/or revealing clothes. is the gameplay good? no idea. it didn't interest me because it seemed like another Tekken clone. then i heard they released a beach vollyball edition which told me all i needed to know about the series' credibility.

another popular example is the entirety of Final Fantasy X-2. i mean, one of the main character's casual clothes consisted of nothing more than a bikini. and some of the alternate classes focused more on exposing "convenient" areas than adding to the gameplay.

the only possibly good point is that it re-used the class system of a long-lost prequel (that happened to be good) but the main focus was obvious.

i know of a few other examples but i think my point is made.

it makes me sad when most games from 10 years ago are actually better than the crap they make today.
