Woman Involved in University of Louisville Hostage Situation Charged With Killing Her 2 Children

'A mother killed her two children and later went to the nearby college she attended and brandished a gun Thursday before handing the weapon to a health counselor, police said.

The threat at the University of Louisville ended with no injuries about half an hour after it began, but police who were then asked by school officials to check on the children found them dead with gunshot wounds.

Gail Lynn Coontz, 37, is charged with murder in the deaths of 14-year-old Greg Coontz and 10-year-old Nikki Coontz, said Louisville police Officer Phil Russell.'

You read story after story after story about a mother who killed her kids, and you read that 40% of murders are committed by the victims own mother, and it makes you wonder just why the hell the mother is given preferential treatment in divorce proceedings, including custody. This occurs even if they try to falsely accuse their ex of abusing the children, which is proof that they're disturbed and have growing up to do, definitely not great at parenting. If I'm ever falsely accused of doing something to my kids by my ex-wife I'll say "Did you know that statistic prove that most murders and violence are committed by the victim's own mother? And you're believing her slander against me when the truth is she's more likely to harm the kids than I am?!"
