Progress Is Progress...

First of all I'd like to say how proud I am to be a part of this organization. I have noticed male bashing in the media for years and frankly I'm getting sick of it along with all the other injustices we've been victims of such as divorce law and child support policies.

Anyways, it seems Australia is on the forefront of *gasp!* treating men like human beings! This article from news.com.au relays the good news that the child support policies are getting a major improvement. Included in the changes are the determination of child support payments taking into account the income of both parents, as well as the amount of time the children stay with the non-resident parent. Tax benefits have been altered, as well, giving non-resident parents monetary incentive to spend time with their children. Like a parent needs to be paid for incentive to see their children. It's still a nod to MRA groups, though. So keep your fingers crossed and your heads high.

Wow, this is certainly reassuring. My sense is this is going to spread like wild fire. While the men's movement is still in its infancy, I believe given 10 yrs more, it will take the western world by storm. Not so much this generation of men (most have been argued down to the point of apathy through years of feminist shibboleths ) but the next. Certainly I hope I'm wrong regarding the last statement and see positive results for men far more sooner in all areas of life.

The feminists hate it. That's the best sign that it must be good for men - and the people who count the most - children.

Lone Fathers Association of Australia president Barry Williams, a fathers' rights lobbyist, acknowledged the reforms were a big win for men, especially the move to base payments on incomes of both parents.

But, this can be gotten around as it is in the USA - but combining the incomes and then STILL take 15% from the non-custodial parent. That is what it works out to be in my state. I've plotted all of the data vs what the state support calculators state and it comes out at ~15% in every case. If the custodial mom works, it still comes out that they want 15% of the non-custodial parents wages.

And if you get laid off - tough darts.

but the past generation and then some, have been largely raised by women (due to no fault divorce and what that means in US society). we'll see how well these men 'stand up' over the next 40 years or so....

Wow! Congratulations to the Aussies for leading the charge in men's rights. We need to hear more good news around here.

By the way, who gives a shit that women's groups are fuming? The negative spin on this shows that the writer for this article needs to be shot.

This is good to see.
Here in the U.S. we are still pin down with no support from any media, radio, or elected-officals.

I pray that one day soon we might get the needed help to break out and stop this great evil that is controling this country family court, so-call CHILD SUPPORT systems, and all these anti-fathers laws.

Still, congatulations to the Aussies.
We all are in the same boat, and if we don't fight back, then we will sink together.

I wish I could hear news like this more often. Way to go, Australia. BTW, I'm glad that the women's groups are fuming. It should be them fuming for a change. Besides, they have nothing to complain about. They should have never got paid ridiculously high amounts of support just for having a child in the first place. What the hell do you call that? "Mommy tax"? What kind of a poor excuse of a human being expects payment for themself for taking care of their own children?

I think the current divorce rate will liberate the older generation of men to which you refer.

The growing marriage strike will free younger men from ever facing the financial racketeering of the Divorce Industry.

I read recently that the highest rates of divorce in America are among the over 50 demographic today.

And of course everyone knows why divorce is so expensive right?

Because it is worth it!
