Anti-freeze poisoner gets 30 years

'A callous wife who poisoned her husband with anti-freeze on their seventh wedding anniversary was today jailed for 30 years.
Kate Knight, 28, spent weeks scouring the internet for the best way to kill Lee before lacing his curry and red wine with the highly toxic substance.
The 37-year-old JCB worker lost six pints of blood, spent 16 weeks in a coma and was left blind, deaf and brain-damaged.
Astonishingly, his supposedly devoted wife even tried to finish him off with spiked drinks as he lay fighting for life in an intensive care unit.'

A man would have received life in prison.
Had this been a woman trying to murder his wife, he would have received life in prison without parole. Instead, this murderer (he's dead as far as I'm concerned) will probably be eligible for parole in a couple years.

she obviously needs counseling and deserves probation.
he made her do it. he must have done something to cause this.
and the taxpayers get stuck w/ all the bills, hospital and prison,
and probably her lawyers too, on endless appeals. what a racket.

I hope for the sake of our movement that those statements were meant to be sarcastic.
Obviously the woman deserved much more than 30 years, but I'm actually surprised she got that much. I was expecting her to get some slap on the wrist after pleading insanity. It's stating the obvious to say that if the genders were reversed in this case, the penalty would be much harsher, but the wheels of justice are oiled with the blood of innocent men, apparently.
I feel bad for the guy. I couldn't live my life being both blind and deaf. I could probably live as one or the other, but not both.
I agree that she deserves life. I mean considering she attempted to kill him a few times.
