I'm Confused
"She has been suffering from schizophrenia since the birth of her daughter"
If the woman was that mentally ill why wasn't the child taken from her when she was diagnosed with schizophrenia?
Apparently the system doesn't work that way. Instead, the baby and father had to suffer a horrific tragedy.
I suspect the judicial system will not only spare her jail time but give her every opportunity to get the child back.

Unfortunate
This is a travesty. I hope the father is petitioning for custody of the child, because he has a very good shot.

never fails
man does bad = lotsa prison time
woman does something horific = lotsa excuses, little (if any)
prison time
i have noticed time and time again the disparity in prison times for women vs. men for almost identical crimes.
men do hard time - women hardly do time
maybe we can get some real honest quality stats on the subject from one of those federally funded women's "scientific" studies.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ...
Dropped twice?
Did she fuck up the first time she tried to kill the kid?

Whatever...
I don't believe her defense for a second. It's typical female behaviour. I messed up, so now I'm gonna try to make it look like some sort of horrible accident. I don't believe she has schizophrenia. She's just using that as an excuse for what she did. Though she gets points for creativity. I would have guessed she would try to use post partum depression as her defense.
Case and point, anybody who would drop their own child of off a balcony twice, let alone once, obviously has evil intentions. I don't see how her having schizophrenia would have caused her to want to do that. After all, if it was an accident wouldn't the kid have only fallen once? I rest my case. Anybody who would do that twice to their own child had intentions of harming it. I hope the dad gets custody.
