Bush Requests VAWA Cut

"Domestic violence advocates are outraged by President Bushs Budget Request for Fiscal Year 2009, saying the measure deals a devastating blow to women and children. The Budget Request released yesterday proposes cutting $120 million from life-saving domestic violence services created by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

We are appalled to see the President proposing such devastating cuts to vital programs that save American lives, said Sue Else, President of the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). VAWA has been proven to save millions of lives and over $15 billion in health care, law enforcement, other social costs. It is fiscally irresponsible to propose such cuts and it turns a blind eye to the most vulnerable citizens of our country."

Yeah! VAWA does turn a blind eye toward the most vulnerable members of society; those second class citizens called MEN!

If Bush cuts VAWA funding to the bone he will have done at least one thing worthwhile during his tenure.

Hello Cheryl,
I am a concerned US citizen about the domestic violence programs in our country.

I know from first hand discussions with many, many male friends that women are just as violent as men in relationships. This is validated by a large number of academic studies. These studies also show that women are far more likely to be violent in dating relationships.

I wonder why this law (VAWA) is aimed only at men? Why don't men get the same funding, considering they are the actual minority according to population statistics?

Isn't VAWA actually a sexist law? It certainly is by it's title.

Please change the name of this sexist legislation and provide men with housing, shelter, free attorneys and the other services routinely provided women. We know that men do not report their violent partners to police - and this is the ONLY reason the crime data is as it is. But academic studies clearly show that women are every bit, if not MORE violent than men.

Let me get this straight, a woman is equally or more vulnerable than a two year old? Maybe this theory explains why more money is spent on domestic violence than child abuse. As we all know, women never engage in child abuse.

I recall a piece circulated on the internet from a women who used to work in one of these womens domestic violence shelters.

She explained what goes on (behind the code of secrecy) at these shelters.
1. Extended 6 week vacations for employees.
2. A lot of girls can now ???work??? from home via telecommute???
3. They have such a dearth of activities, that they pass one call around to all the girls, so they can all write on there activities audit that they took X number of calls!!

I'm o.k with the feminst pork dollars being dotted out to these white middle class women "neo-beurocrats."
It's when they take these tax dollars and fund faulty, misleading, anti-male agit-prop, and "condition police jurisdictions" that leads to innocent men being arrested, and fathers removed from their sons,

Then we have problems Houston!!

View the average 11, 12 or 13 year old spoiled brat and therein you will see the mentality of the majority of women revealed.
