Fewer young men are in college, especially at 4-year schools

Article here. Excerpt:

'College enrollment among young Americans has been declining gradually over the past decade. In 2022, the total number of 18- to 24-year-olds enrolled in college was down by approximately 1.2 million from its peak in 2011.

Most of the decline is due to fewer young men pursuing college. About 1 million fewer young men are in college but only 0.2 million fewer young women. As a result, men make up 44% of young college students today, down from 47% in 2011, according to newly released U.S. Census Bureau data.

This shift is driven entirely by the falling share of men who are students at four-year colleges. Today, men represent only 42% of students ages 18 to 24 at four-year schools, down from 47% in 2011.'

'Two-Parent Privilege' author sounds alarm on concerning marriage trend's impact on children

Article here. The marriage rate will go up when the penalty men pay for being married goes away. The implicit and explicit terms of marriage for men must change or the rate will continue to decline. Excerpt:

'One author is explaining why the ultimate privilege is being born into a two-parent household and why the decline in marriage should cause concern.

"This is something as an economic matter, not as a value-laden or moral proposition we should all be really concerned about," Melissa Kearney stressed during her appearance on Fox News Thursday.

The "Two-Parent Privilege," author and economist suggests that the decline of two-parent households is driving "class gaps in kids’ opportunities, experiences and household resources."'

In June 2022, Brooks, 36, reached out to the Sheriff’s Office, claiming she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by her husband and his brother, The Keys Citizen reported, citing an arrest warrant.

In addition to sharing a list of times and dates detailing assaults, Brooks gave investigators screenshots of messages with friends depicting her as the victim of abuse and claiming that she had been harassed by her husband’s family for having left with her children.'

Nigeria: Paternity fraud: Shocking revelations as more couples embrace DNA testing

Article here. Excerpt:

'Mr Olanrewaju (surname withheld) rubbed both eyes with the back of his hands. He was not sure what he saw as the truth.

“How can four of the kids who call me father not be mine?” he wondered.

After secretly conducting a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test to confirm his first son’s paternity at the DCC DNA Diagnostic Centre in Osogbo, Osun State, he received the shock of his life.

Sharing his story in tears on a radion station in Ibadan, Oyo State, the 44-year-old Osun State indigene said his wife, whom he married in 2007, brought another man’s children for him to father.

The children who are 16, 12, eight, and five years old were tested after Olanrewaju discovered what he termed ‘promiscuous moves’ from his wife.'

Beauty queen charged in ex-NFL hubby's Bahamas murder plot allowed to return home for holidays

Article here. Excerpt:

'A judge gave Lindsay Shiver an early Christmas gift by letting her leave the Bahamas to visit her children and family in Alabama for the holidays.

Shiver is out on bail but not allowed to leave the Bahamas, where she allegedly planned to hire a hitman to kill her husband, Robert Shiver, during a contentious divorce.

The Bahamian judge ruled Thursday that the former beauty queen could travel back to the United States, with specific conditions, despite Robert's plea during the hearing that he is "thankful to be alive" after the alleged murder plot.

Lindsay's lawyer argued his client is a "single housewife with no source of income" and is living off money stashed away by her parents, Court TV reported.'

NYT Critic Takes Aim at Kids’ Shows ‘Bluey’ and ‘Chip Chilla’ for Having ‘Weirdly Present’ Fathers

Article here. Excerpt:

'Popular kids cartoon Bluey and the Daily Wire’s Chip Chilla are in the crosshairs of a New York Times writer for apparently having ‘weirdly present’ fathers.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Critic Amanda Hess wrote a piece for the outlet headlined, "The Fantasy of the Fun TV Dad."

She pondered how Bandit, the ‘exceptional’ father in Bluey, has time to be a fun dad while holding a job and still having time to cheerfully do house chores, including laundry. LOL:

I don’t know how he keeps house, works as an archaeologist and serves as a full-time prop artist to his daughters, but he does it all while only feigning complaint. He is not only a good father — he is a fantasy, one crafted to appeal to adults as much as to children.'

Why Young Men Are Turning Against Feminism

Article here. Excerpt:

'The rising rejection of feminism among young men is almost certainly linked to growing feelings that American society has become more hostile to men. In 2019, less than one-third of young men reported that men experienced some or a lot of discrimination in American society. Only four years later, close to half (45 percent) of young men now believe men are facing gender-based discrimination. For some young men, feminism has morphed from a commitment to gender equality to an ideology aimed at punishing men. That leads to predictable results, like half of men agreeing with the statement, “These days society seems to punish men just for acting like men.”'

Company's 'pattern of eliminating white males' supports reverse bias award, judges say

Article here. Excerpt:

'A U.S. appeals court panel on Thursday sounded likely to mostly uphold a $4 million award for a white male former healthcare executive who claimed he was fired so the company could further its diversity goals.

A three-judge 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in Richmond, Virginia heard arguments in an appeal by hospital operator Novant Health Inc, which claims former senior vice president David Duvall's lack of leadership skills, and not his race or sex, led to his termination.

The appeal comes as corporate diversity initiatives are facing increased scrutiny and legal challenges, largely from conservative groups who say they amount to unlawful bias against white and male workers.

Two 4th Circuit judges at Thursday's argument signaled that Novant was unlikely to convince them to overturn the jury's finding that the company had engaged in discrimination.

DEI under siege: Why more businesses are being accused of ‘reverse discrimination’

Article here. Excerpt:

'He has accused Macy’s of discriminating against white men. McDonald’s and IBM, too. Even NASCAR – a mostly white sport that banned confederate flags in 2020 – is in his sights.

Some two dozen complaints have been leveled by Stephen Miller, a senior White House adviser in the Trump administration.

Emboldened by a Supreme Court ruling last summer striking down affirmative action in education, Miller and his conservative advocacy organization America First Legal have taken the position that all DEI programs are illegal, embracing “reverse discrimination,” a concept that first emerged in the 1970s as a backlash to 1960s-era civil rights laws to fix racial disparities in the workplace.'

Using Sexism & Racism to ‘Improve Diversity’

Article here. Excerpt:

'While it may once have been scandalous for employers to exclude white men from their recruitment process, fast forward to 2023 and most hiring panels appear to have decided it’s riskier to include them. Infuriated by the failure of equality to produce equal outcomes, our liberal culture demands a bogeyman, and in the straight, white male, it found the pantomime villain of its dreams. Whatever your grievance, the patriarchy will shoulder the blame because any alternative culprit is simply too ‘offensive’ to countenance—no matter how well the facts support their claim.

Wanting to hire ‘fewer white men’ for a job is not discrimination

Article here. Excerpt:

'Wanting to hire “fewer white men” for a job is not discrimination, a tribunal has ruled.

Chris Palmer was turned down from an £80,000 post at a financial services company, who instead opted to hire a woman, after he was told at his job interview the company wanted to hire fewer white men.

At an employment tribunal, the candidate said his failure to get the position as head of HR was based on his ethnicity and gender following the remark from Michael Jones, the managing director.

However the panel dismissed his claims – ruling it was not “indicative of an intention to discriminate” when an employer mentioned its aim to improve diversity in its workforce.'

Young men just more interested in STEM fields, poll finds

Article here. Excerpt:

'Young men are more interested in science and technology careers than young women even though both equally report receiving opportunities and encouragement to enter STEM fields, a new Gallup survey found.

The poll by Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation found that 85 percent of young men ages 12 to 26 are interested in physical science, technology, engineering, or math careers. In contrast, 63 percent of young women said the same.

“Women make up half of the total college-educated workforce in the U.S. but only 34% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math sectors,” according to Gallup.

The poll comes amid a wealth of programs aimed at encouraging more girls to study STEM fields and research exploring why so few do.'

Froma Harrop: Blaming white men for problems is political stupidity

Article here. Excerpt:

'An effective way of handing elections to right-wing Republicans is to label large blocs of voters as wrong by virtue of their gender, race, ethnicity, age. Those are physical characteristics, not walking opinions.

Yet this self-destructive habit is routinely practiced by some on the left, especially the feminist left. They casually cite "white men" as the reason reproductive rights are under attack.
...
Arguing a position based on the holder's race, gender or age isn't just dumb politically. It's no argument at all.'
