College plans to fire professor who taught ‘Men in Literature’ class

Article here. Excerpt:

'Last spring we told you about Springfield College’s long-running attack on a tenured English professor who taught a popular “Men in Literature” class.

It forced him to abandon the course – while retaining women-, Native American- and Asian-focused literature courses – and previously accused him of hate speech for putting up a poster that raises awareness about false rape accusations.

Now this “very ordinary college” is trying to fire Dennis Gouws, National Association of Scholars President Peter Wood writes in The Federalist:

Man falsely accused of rape jailed for 10 months

Article here. Excerpt:

'A man falsely accused of rape was jailed for 10 months, denied bail, treated like a social pariah, his lawyer says.

Christopher John Ferguson, 31, faced eight charges, including two of rape, before they were dismissed by Judge Michael Crosbie in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday.

The complainant was first interviewed by police in 2013 when she was 13 years old. But during cross examination at trial this week, she admitted she had lied about the rape.

Speaking after the trial, Anne Stevens, Ferguson's lawyer, said her client would have been serving nine to 11 years' jail "If the right questions hadn't been asked".

"When the process works very well, then justice is done."

However, at the start of the trial, her client was named and labelled a "kiddy f....." on social media.

Canada: Heading down an ugly path of Gender-based Justice

Article here. Excerpt:

'Federal judge Robin Camp resigned recently after a majority of senior federal judges across the country recommended his removal. These senior judges concluded the judge, whose impugned “knees together” comment is now well known, “acted in a manner that seriously undermined public confidence in the judiciary.”

There was no evidence of actual undermining of anything. The spectacle did show the effectiveness of gender advocacy. The witness, individual accusers, commentators, attorney general of Alberta (who instigated the review), federal justice minister and majority of members of the Inquiry Committee are women.
...
The danger of gender politics driving this overhaul of law and judicial system is that pickets and protests instill in judges fear of public ignominy and career forfeiture. To question anything complainants say will provoke the wrath of feminists who anoint all female complainants as survivors who must be believed.

Canada: BC man pleads for family court reform in suicide note

Article here. Excerpt:

'The horror shows that emerge from Canada’s family courts, those aggressive high-conflict battles that can go on for years, are often complicated and nuanced.
...
But a couple of things are straightforward and clear.

On March 8, Jeramey finally signed off on the July 11, 2016, order from B.C. Supreme Court Judge B.J. Brown.

He unsuccessfully had applied for an order varying the amount of child and spousal support he had to pay his former wife, a total of $6,500 a month. She in turn was seeking he be found in contempt of another order and fined an additional $10,000; the judge adjourned those issues.
...
Early on the morning of March 9, Jeramey apparently rigged his truck so that when he drove down an embankment at the end of Page Road in Abbotsford, B.C., his neck would break.

Student has grade docked for using 'mankind' in English paper

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Northern Arizona University student lost credit on an English paper for using the word “mankind" instead of a gender-neutral alternative.

Cailin Jeffers, an English major at NAU, told Campus Reform that she received an email from one of her professors, Dr. Anne Scott, informing her that she had been docked one point out of a possible 50 on a recent paper for “problems with diction (word choice)” related to her use of the word “mankind” as a synonym for “humanity.”

“I would be negligent, as a professor who is running a class about the human condition and the assumptions we make about being ‘human,’ if I did not also raise this issue of gendered language and ask my students to respect the need for gender-neutral language,” Scott explained. “The words we use matter very much, or else teachers would not be making an issue of this at all, and the MLA would not be making recommendations for gender-neutral language at the national level.”

Reject campus feminism

Article here. Excerpt:

'Organizers of January's Women's March on Washington made a concerted effort to target college-aged women with their messaging — and with good reason. While only 23 percent of American women identify as feminists, 47 percent of millennial women do.

Unfortunately, policies supported by modern feminists have proved particularly bad for young women.

Many of today's young women struggle with significant student loan debt and have a hard time finding a job that will get them out of mom and dad's basement. About 42 percent of women have more than $30,000 in student loan debt, compared to just 27 percent of men.

This could be a result of the increase we've seen in the number of women pursuing higher levels of learning. But significant student loan defaults among this group indicate that women may not be getting a good return on investment. Women are vastly overrepresented in majors that are known to have low returns on investment, such as gender studies or social work.

Woman fined for false rape report

Article here. Excerpt:

'In a highly unusual case, a 48-year-old Winnipeg woman has been fined for public mischief after she falsely reported to police she was raped in order to try to save her job.

On Nov. 7, 2016, the woman reported to the Winnipeg Police Service's sex crimes unit that she had been raped by a stranger six days earlier while she was walking in the area of Midwinter Avenue and Brazier Street. She told investigators an unknown man had come up behind her, overpowered her and raped her, and that she later threw out her clothes and showered repeatedly because she was ashamed.

The woman, a single mother who now has a criminal record, sobbed in front of provincial court Judge Carena Roller on Thursday, saying she was truly ashamed of herself for lying.

"I don't even know why I did it. This is not me to do something so stupid," she told the judge.

The woman was fined $1,000, put on an 18-month probation order and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.'

The reason why false rape report is misdemeanor charge

Article here. Excerpt:

'Viewers have asked why the woman who claimed to be raped and kidnapped by three men in Denison is only being charged with a misdemeanor.

"As far as we know, that's the charge that fits in this situation," says Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown. "We will be looking in full in the report to see if anything else that can be made of it."

District Attorney Brown says after Denison Police discovered Breana Harmon Talbott's claims of her kidnapping and rape by three men to be a hoax, she was arrested and charged with providing false information to a peace officer, a class B misdemeanor. Which means she could spend up to 180 days in jail or a fine up to two-thousand dollars.

But some locals say a misdemeanor charge isn't enough.'

Dem Candidate Attacks Critic for Mansplaining Who Turns Out to Be a Woman

'A Democratic congressional candidate attacked a critic for mansplaining to her on Twitter Sunday, only for the critic to reveal that she is also a woman.

Video game developer Brianna Wu is running for Congress in Massachusetts' 8th District, challenging sitting Congressman Stephen F. Lynch in the Democratic primary. Most recently she was the subject of a positive New York Times Magazine profile, "Brianna Wu Wants to Change the Democrats’ Playbook."

Wu, a prominent figure in online social justice advocacy, also maintains an active Twitter profile. She tweeted Sunday night about an incident where a United flight crew would not allow two young women wearing leggings to board.'

"Something Is Happening Here"

Article here. Excerpt:

'Unfortunately, since liberalism and feminism were and are still closely linked, the boys' issue has almost exclusively been the province of conservatives. But now there is also a handful (at least) of centrists, or even liberals (like me) who continue to strive for recognition of boys' and men's issues as significant. And though feminists—especially those on the extreme side—continue to fight any attempts to get these issues into full public view, I am starting to feel that this fight itself shows that the movement on behalf of males is starting to have some traction.

Mexico: Metro installs men-only 'sexist seats' featuring a 'PENIS' as part of sexual harassment campaign

Article here. Excerpt:

'The Mexico City Metro has installed a 'sexist seat' - complete with a flaccid penis - on its network to highlight the repeated sexual harassment women face on trains every day.

The chair has been modified to have the appearance of a man, including a bare chest, nipples and penis.

The place is "exclusive for men," with the aim to make them feel as uncomfortable as women who have been sexual assaulted on the transport system.

The social experiment has caused surprise and discomfort among some commuters, but has been a huge success in terms of the publicity is has received.
...
The team behind the 'sexist' Metro seat were previously responsible for a similar campaign where men’s behinds were filmed and projected onto screens in the city’s underground stations to combat male chauvinism.'

US: The Alt-Right Is What Happens When Society Marginalizes Men

Article here. Excerpt:

'Various journalists have helped form a narrative of sorts about the identity of this shadowy, boisterous alt-right movement. The alt-right is childish and vicious, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing other than the message-board histrionics of aggrieved young men in their parents’ basement.

From what I can see, this narrative does apply to a degree. Where various alt-right voices have articulated ethnocentrism, outright racism, misogyny, decadence, and a kind of juvenile hatred, among other vile stances, we should offer condemnation in no uncertain terms.

I do wonder, however, if the media has missed at least one true thing regarding the “alt-right.” The movement (if we can call it that) may often prove inchoate and even inarticulate, but behind the memes and coded language, there seems to be a massed sentiment. It is this: men feel left behind.

USA: TX Teen staged kidnapping, caused her own injuries

Article here. Excerpt:

'Police now believe a kidnapping and sexual assault case that rattled the small North Texas town of Denison earlier this month was a hoax.

Breana Harmon Talbott confessed to investigators Tuesday night and admitted she staged the attack. She also admitted the injuries to her body were self-inflicted, the Denison Police Department said.

Police say shortly after the 18-year-old turned up at a church cut and partially dressed, her story started to unravel. But not before it spun out of control on social media, sparking outrage and fear in the community.

The story made headlines after Talbott’s then-fiancé, Sam Hollingsworth, reported her missing on March 8. He told FOX 4 he asked a neighbor to check on her and that neighbor found her keys and a shoe on the ground outside her apartment.

Hollingsworth says he is now moving on after the terrible betrayal. He said he and Talbott had an argument the day she turned up at the church about the couple moving after he joined the army but can't explain why she'd allegedly stage a rape.
