Our blind spot for female sexual predators is putting teenage boys at risk

Article here. Excerpt:

'A 30-year-old PE teacher convicted of multiple sexual offences against a 16-year-old boy; a 34-year-old music teacher whose 13-year-old pupil fathered her child; a 31-year-old maths teacher jailed for having sex with two teenage students, one whose baby she gave birth to. A string of recent cases has brought the concerning issue of sexual misconduct by female teachers into the public spotlight.

As a senior lecturer in criminology and justice, my work has increased understanding of how and why some female teachers sexually abuse students. It has made it clear that a gender blindness can make it hard to recognise some women as perpetrators, which can lead to devastating results.

My research has highlighted how we need to be alert to any signs of concern in the relationships between female teachers and students in the same way as those of male teachers. Although every case involving female perpetrators is unique, some common patterns have emerged in the research.'

He said Ramage would have to comply with treatment aimed at improving her health.'

After the Cornell Case, Should Colleges Ban Fraternities?

Article here. Excerpt:

'TIME spoke to Nick Syrett, author of The Company He Keeps: A History of White College Fraternities and chair and professor of gender and women’s studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, about the case, what makes fraternities different, and why they have proved so hard to rein in.
...
There's a long history of events like this happening in fraternities. Since at least the 1970s and 1980s, there have been incidents of gang rape of intoxicated, incapacitated women in fraternity houses. So it is not surprising that it has happened once again.

Federal jury finds UMD failed to stop harassment of student cleared of sexual misconduct

Article here. Excerpt:

'A federal jury on Thursday decided in favor of a former University of Maryland student who sued the university for failing to protect him from harassment after he was cleared of a sexual misconduct claim.

The student sued the university in 2022 under the pseudonym John Doe. The jury said he proved by a “preponderance of the evidence” that the university was “deliberately indifferent” to the harassment against him given the known circumstances.

While the lawsuit sought about $10 million, the jury ultimately awarded John Doe $1 — legally known as nominal damages — which recognizes that a plaintiff’s legal rights were violated, even though there was no measurable harm.

The jury agreed with John Doe on all four questions on its verdict sheet. It found he was harassed because of his sex, that the harassment was severe enough to “deprive him of equal access” to education and that the university’s response was “clearly unreasonable.”

The Cornell Rape Case Will Worsen The Gender War

Article here. Excerpt:

'The Cornell case offers a grim preview of how the gender wars will shape politics and society in the future. Despite college students having less sex than ever before, rampant misandry may force a revival of campus rape hysteria and create policy changes. Democrats are eager to latch onto the Cornell story to gin up support from female voters. As part of that process, we could end up with draconian laws that make it easier for women to send men to prison for regrettable sex and other non-crimes. While the media obsesses over random right-wingers who meme about repealing the 19th Amendment, the real result of the gender war will be aimed at men, not women.

Divorce Lawyer Has a Warning for Stay-at-Home Spouses

Article here. Excerpt:

'New York-based Jacqueline Harounian, the managing partner of Wisselman Harounian Family Law, told Newsweek that the great American divorce, for years, has followed a predictable pattern—until now.

In previous decades, typically one spouse, usually the husband, earned the money, while the other, usually the wife, raised children and managed the home, with courts stepping in to provide long-term financial protection for the latter if the marriage ended.

That binary reality is being phased out.

"The laws are changing, the earners are going to get to keep their money, and the spouses that are dependent will get support, for a short period of time," Harounian, 56, said. "Approximately 15 years ago, New York became the last state to enact no-fault divorce laws, and since then, the laws are becoming more gender neutral. Fathers are taking a more active role in raising children, and as a result, many are seeking 50-50 custody. On the other hand, mothers are surging in career and income power."

When Will Schools Ban Frats Once and for All?

Article here. Excerpt:

'Do frats, and the men who join them, have a monopoly on predatory behavior on campus? Absolutely not. But a 2007 study found that frat brothers are three times more likely to rape than other male students; and in a 2025 survey at Cornell University—where seven fraternity brothers have been accused of drugging and gang-raping a 20-year-old student (and sorority member herself) in 2024—roughly one in three women reported experiencing sexual assault during their time at the school.

"Feminism is an intrasexual competitive strategy"

Dr Spier interviews Evolutionary psychologist Dr Dani Sulikowski: "Is Feminism an Intrasexual Competitive Strategy?": "Feminism was always actually just intrasexual competition. I don't actually think it's ever been anything else."

Sulikowski: Initially, when I first started sort of looking into feminism as a vehicle for intraexual competition between women, that's sort of what I thought it was, you know, a vehicle that had been hijacked or co-opted, if you like, whose original intention had been women's rights and women's social progress as it claims. Um, and it's been and it has been hijacked because I think it is a fair comment to suggest that most every female female interaction has sort of intraexual competition as an organizing principle. ...

They "chose the bear" ... now "all the men are gone"

The amazing Kait Willet sums up the issue in less than two minutes: "You chose the bear":

Willett: But you can't say, "I would choose a bear." Which is basically saying, "I'm not interested in you at all." And then go, "Why aren't you approaching me?"

"I don't want you, but why aren't you approaching me?"

"I don't want you, but why aren't you approaching me?"

Like, play that out loud. Am I crazy? That doesn't make any sense. If I hear, "I don't want you," I'm not going to approach you. I'm just not... I'm going to find another option that is safe to approach and that I'm interested in. That's what men are doing. Or they're just not approaching at all.

But you can't get mad at them for listening to you.

Dr. Spier interviews Christine Grace Smith, accidental "men's advocate"

Dr. Spier interviews Christine Grace Smith, "one of the biggest independent YouTube voices that react to the online gender wars. She has uh over a quarter of a million subscribers."

Spier: Asking does Christine consider herself a male advocate?

Smith: I have no idea. I would like to think so, but then also it's hard ... Everything I say is what I think. Everything I say is my opinion, my thoughts. Anything that goes on that comes out my mouth has come from up here. So, I would hate to say my voice is men's voice because I'm not a guy. I have no idea if I'm saying what guys want me to say. I just say what I think. So, it's rewarding when people come back to me and say, "Oh, I agree with you. You're you're saying what I think."

Spier: I think that you can safely say that you're advocating for for men.

Since 2016, the program has harnessed the power of sport to engage Year 10 students in meaningful conversations about respectful relationships, gender equality and the drivers of gender-based violence.

Developed in partnership with Centacare Catholic Community Services and the South Australian Government, the evidence-informed program complements the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum taught in schools across the state.

The initiative has since expanded to include a companion program supporting young women, helping them build confidence, recognise healthy relationships and challenge harmful gender stereotypes.'

Excellent analysis: "Cornell 7 case is consent-based morality failing its own stress test"

The most cogent analysis of the Cornell 7 fiasco I've seen so far, by X/Twitter user "Allie": I was initially outraged when I saw what was going around on social media. And you look into it: There is no case here. ... Ultimately I think what this teaches us is that we all know that deep down that certain moral acts have more complexity than just a simple yes/no. That is why consent based morality is totally unable to deal with this issue. Consent-based morality really has no answer for "yeah she consented, but should the guys have been so opportunistic about it?" ... Or "our bodies are more than just private property. We need to steward them well." You won't hear this from any of the people claiming that consent is the beginning and the end of what is moral. They know that it's wrong, but they think that consent is the only thing that can be wrong, so they're going to try to force it to be a consent issue, when it's not. X post is here.
