bandersnatch writes "From Ask Men -- 'Ask a buddy at work. Ask your neighbor. Even a relative will probably have heard of one. And the stories are always the same: she took his house, his car, and his kids. She made more money than him and he still had to pay alimony. She accused him of physical abuse and the courts didn't even ask for evidence."

There's so much to say about this, I don't know where to start! OK, gotta try: It minimizes the fact that the wounded man in the story was knifed (ie, attempted murder) by his girlfriend, and later that he tried to kill himself over her. It takes an opportunity to discuss several men's health issues (eg: DV, psychological problems with boundaries and women, suicide, etc.) and throws it aside - right there in the Health section!
I am sure there's more to say about it but I'll let MANN readers run with the ball.

cnewbyuk writes "The whole "Down Low" thing has got out of hand. What amazes me is the fact that it is so easy to demonise black men, while showing black women as helpless poor victims of an evil animal. Below I have linked to a more postive and logical look at both the "facts" in this issue. The author also considers the reaction of the media (including the sinister Oprah), and the reaction of the US public (including black women). Relations between black men and women are already at an all time low, this is just driving us apart even more.

jim4146 writes "Okay Fellas,
I'm a newjack and feeling my way around this. Basically, I'm a happily married man with two lovely grown daughters. Want nothing but the best for them. With that said I am conciously aware of the legalized and socially accepted injustices that men face today. I'm sure this movement (Men's) will prevail...the question is how soon? Hopefully we'll live to see it. Anyway, I ran accross this link and am thinking of a good rebuttal for it. Not sure if you guys and gals want to do the same. Check it out...take care.

Did you know that “aggression against women” represents a war, and that “the domestic criminal laws are so under-enforced that they can be considered not there.” The speaker further explained, “International law doesn’t capture the reality that half of society is attacking the other half. This is a real war that has gone on for millennia.”
It’s hard to imagine a speech that is more inflammatory or hateful than the one that Catherine MacKinnon gave at Stanford Law School last week. The speech was sponsored by Women of Stanford Law and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender.

AngryMan writes "A female BA pilot has taken the airline to court for sex discrimination because they wouldn't allow her to work half-time to look after her kid. They say she needs to complete her flying hours for safety reasons, and that the rules apply to everybody. She won. I hope I don't find myself on her plane. Story here."

mens_issues writes "Some of you may recall that I raised a minor ruckus back in January over an article in that month's National Geographic regarding Berber men and women in Morocco (I raised a bigger ruckus the following month over their demeaning "Ladies' Lunch" feature). Well, they printed my letter regarding the Berbers. Here it is from the Forum section of the May 2005 edition:"

Clancy writes "April 21, 2005

From Men's News Daily
Excerpt-
"Feminism is the post-modern Women’s Ku Klux Klan
It is time everyone come to grips with history and imprint an important fact on our brains: Feminism as we know it is the direct ideological and political descendant of the Women’s Ku Klux Klan (WKKK)."
The author is obviously a conservative, as am I. But, if you can get past that and read what he has to say... Well, I received a good history lesson. I thought he made some valid suggestions and good observations. This editorial should make a lot of harpies extremely furious."

cmdr iceman writes "Here we are again gentlemen with yet another story of a woman claiming to be raped when she really wasn't. What really vexes me is the degree of forbearance authorities have exercised in not releasing her name as they "consider" charging her. She should be forced to reimburse every expenditure and man hour wasted on her little stage production."

To say the New York Times is obsessed with domestic violence against women is an understatement. A search of the NYT database reveals over 337,000 “hits” on the phrase “violence against women” just since 1996!
The Times has gotten in a lot of hot water for its long-standing anti-male and other forms of bias. Visit the Times Watch at http://www.timeswatch.com/ and you will see the many ways that the NYT slants, distorts, filters, and otherwise biases the truth.

Keep your eye on this story. We'll have to see if she's charged even with something like negligence.
