The online edition of Time Magazine has this to say regarding choice for men. Each day, it seems, men's issues are taken more seriously by parts of the mainstream media.

Return of the King writes "Excerpt:
'ONE OF the myths that Kate O'Beirne skewers in ''Women Who Make the World Worse," her shrewd and refreshing new book on the modern women's movement, is the myth of the gender gap -- the potent edge that Democrats are supposed to have over Republicans when it comes to attracting women's votes.'

Tirryb writes "BBC.co.uk reports here that men now suffer from the same pressures woman have complained of for years - pressure to change your body to conform to society and the media's view of how you SHOULD look.
Apparently as much as 20% of eating disorders occur in men, 25% of men lie about their health/weight etc because they feel pressured to live up to stereotypes and many are unhappy with how they look.
So, are we to be helped in this? Apparently not - quote from the piece:
"He said: "It is often easier to get through to men using image than it is to get through to them on health."But there is a danger with the way that we highlight issues that it can skew perceptions of risk.""
Apparently sounds like its acceptable to screw men up pyschologically, as long as it might benefit their health to do so..."

Return of the King writes "Ellen Goodman once again gives us a biased one sided only perspective on redefining marital happiness. Her sexist muse is a follows: The question is not whether women should lower their expectations (on men - implying that it is men alone who need to change). It's whether men will kick it up another notch and make progressive (feminist) women happy. She wants women to express their feminist views with men they date to scare off future "ex-husbands." Nice."
Ed. note: Saw this in the local paper right above the Goodman article; it discusses how the same-sex marriage rights battle inevitably ushers in the permissibility of legalized polygamy/polyamory. I just laughed, seeing the two columns sitting there on the same page togther.

Anonymous User writes "Accused of biting a student, she is initially reassigned to non-instructional duties even though in 2004 and 2005, administrators had warned her to avoid being physically confrontational with students, according to her termination letter. God, can you imagine if this were a male teacher -- oh that's right male teachers are being drummed from the field because they are all perverts... story here."

Tirryb writes "News.com.au reports here that a female teacher has been bailed on 92 charges of sexual abuse of a student, now aged 16, over a 2 year period.
What will be interesting to see here is whether her treatment differs because the student is female. We've all seen so many cases lately where female teacher/male student equates to a slap on the wrist, I wonder if she'll get more because it was (shock!) a girl that suffered and not a boy. I'll try and keep a trace on this story..."

Equal protection under the law. Due process. Innocent until proven
guilty.
Those principles, enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, are foundations
of a free and just society. Those concepts are routinely violated
every day by the Violence Against Women Act. Each and every day in the
United States, over 2,000 Americans have their civil rights violated by
VAWA.

al_nbd writes "A CNN journalist in his blog tries to analyse why crime stories where victims are white females receive much more coverage in media than others. More than a hundred people left their commentaries on this topic. The absolute majority of commentators agree that it's not fair when lives of white females are valued more than other lives. But they think that it's not fair only in respect of FEMALES OF OTHER COLORS, NOT MALES. Below is a commentary reflecting the general mood:
"If the "socially concious" media made an effort to report disappearances of ALL women, it would effect what your viewers are interested in. Last I checked, your audience is made up of many non-whites, including myself. I feel insulted that CNN might not value my disappearance or that of any other woman of color."
Misandry is becoming more and more deeply rooted in the western society.

Anonymous User writes "This is infuriating! Another coed lies about rape and gets off scott free! We need to start punishing females that lie about rape with severe penalties... excerpt:
'Police do not know why the woman, whose name was not released, concocted the story.
The woman will not face criminal charges for filing a false police report, Ferrell said.
"I do believe the psychological effect of having to talk to her parents, because they supported her and believed in her that this did occur...will have more of an impact on her than me filing charges on her or having charges filed on her," Ferrell said.'"

Strangely, the local police appear to have no objection. If a group of men were to try the same thing I wonder what the authorities would have to say about it...Hmmm..."

Clancy writes "
March 10, 2006— More and more American women are swapping briefcases and office suits for dungarees and diaper bags as they opt to stay home and raise children, putting the brakes on decades of female advances in the workplace."
Ed. note: Notice how this is described, "putting the brakes..." Also, they don't discuss who is financing these women's choice to stay home. Do their husbands really have any choice to stay home vs. go work? Then what choice do they have when their wives leave them and stick them with the alimony and C/S debt?

Return of the King writes "Harvey Mansfield, conservative political theorist and academic provocateur, argues that women--and society--need to come to terms with 'manliness' - The gender-neutral society is by definition a mediocre one, with male greatness viewed as threatening to the social order and men and women crammed into boxes they don't fit in."
