'A law introduced in Brazil two years ago to protect women from domestic violence has been used to protect a man who was being abused by his ex-wife.

It is thought this may be the first time the legislation has been used to protect a man.

The case was heard before a judge in Cuiaba in the state of Mato Grosso.

The judge ruled that the former wife had to stay at least 500m away from her ex-husband and must avoid all contact with him.

The man alleged that he was suffering physical aggression, psychological and financial abuse and provided several documents to prove his case.'

'A New Berlin woman accused of attempted homicide told detectives that she wrapped plastic wrap across her husband's face and hit him with a dumbbell because she wanted him to shut up, according to a criminal complaint filed today in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Valentina Grenader, 45, was charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide, strangulation and suffocation, and substantial battery. She is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $100,000 bail.

If convicted of all three felonies, the maximum penalty is 73 years and six months in prison.

The woman's husband needed eight stitches to close a head wound, according to the criminal complaint.'

'Ingeborg Grubanoski was suffering from a number of mental disorders when she brutally killed her severely disabled husband, a forensic psychiatrist testified Wednesday.

As a result, Dr. David Tano concluded she should be found not criminally responsible for clubbing Mladen Grubanoski in the head with a hammer and strangling him with a belt on May 17, 2007.

Tano told Crown prosecutor Christine Rideout that Ingeborg, 56, heard voices before she retrieved the weapons from the basement of their southwest home after their daughter Karin went to the grocery store.

When she killed the retired electrical engineer, she was in a dissociative or trance-like state, he said.'

A greater number of older men and younger women have reported being unfaithful than in earlier studies. According to The New York Times, which cites the University of Washington’s research, the number of young women who report engaging in extramarital sex is not much lower than that of men. Jessica Kalish, who shared a house with Burger despite breaking up with her more than a year ago, was found last Thursday stuffed in the backseat of her gun-metal BMW sedan, abandoned behind a medical office at 2300 S. Congress Avenue. Her blood was splashed around the rear end and undercarriage of the car, as if her killer had tried to load her into the trunk. The driver-side window was shattered.'
