Connecticut Law Would Axe Fitness Requirements for Female Firefighters

The test, which only 10 to 15 percent of women pass, requires candidates to complete intense physical tasks while wearing a 50 pound vest. It’s designed to simulate the experience of navigating a fire in heavy gear—and to weed out those unable to do so.

The law, introduced by five Democratic lawmakers, would offer women an alternative test based on "revised physical standards," with the goal of ensuring that "additional female candidates" qualify for firefighter positions, text from the bill states.'

The Sexual Assault Reporting Option, also known as SARO, allows victims to report a sexual assault without any obligation to participate in further lines of inquiry.

While the anonymous option has been in place since 2012, the new online version was unveiled in 12 languages on Friday, making it more accessible to victims.

The new system, accessed through a community portal on the NSW Police website, replaces the old process that required victims to download, print out and complete 14-page document, then email it back to the State Crime Command’s sex crimes squad.'

NHL Reverses Course After DeSantis Admin Warns About ‘Discrimination’ Event Permitting Only Non-Whites, Non-Males

Women work harder than men: An anthropological study reveals why

'Our first finding was that women worked much harder than men, and contributed most of the fruits of this labor to their families. This was evidenced both by their own reports of how much they worked and by their activity trackers.

Women walked on average just over 12,000 steps per day, while men walked just over 9,000 steps. So men also worked hard, but less so than women. They spent more time in leisure or social activities, or just hanging around and resting.

This may be partly because women are, on average, physically weaker than men, and may thus have reduced bargaining power. But we also found that individuals (be they male or female) who disperse at marriage to live away from their kin have higher workloads than those who stay with their natal families.

As evidenced by declining college enrollment in the U.S., a drop for which men account for 71%, the gender disparity is continuing to worsen.'

Texas medical schools accused of bias against white, Asian men

'A lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses six state-run medical schools in Texas of violating federal anti-discrimination laws by giving preferences to female and non-Asian minority applicants.

The lawsuit by George Stewart, a white man who was denied admission to the schools, is the latest challenge to affirmative action policies that are commonly used by U.S. schools to boost enrollment of Black, Hispanic and female students.

According to the lawsuit, Stewart in 2021 obtained enrollment data for the six schools after he was denied admission.

Stewart alleged that the data revealed that Black, Hispanic and female students at the schools had significantly lower grade-point averages or test scores than white, Asian and male students. Stewart said in the complaint that the data showed that the schools gave preferences to female and non-Asian minority applicants.

California Legislative Women's Caucus calls for removal of Dana White as UFC president

'The California Legislative Women's Caucus on Monday called for the removal of Dana White as UFC president in a public letter addressed to the head of the promotion's parent company.
