Court Awards Cristiano Ronaldo $300k As Compensation Over False Rape Case

Article here. Excerpt:

'Portuguese superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was on Tuesday reimbursed over $300,000 for legal fees he spent while defending himself in a federal civil case alleging he had raped a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

The case was dismissed in June, after the judge found that the plaintiff’s lawyer engaged in misconduct so severe that it would be impossible for Ronaldo to have a fair trial.

US District Judge Jennifer Dorsey ruled the attorney representing the accuser Kathryn Mayorga, Leslie Stovall, pay Ronaldo $334,637.50. The court found Stovall owed the money after the attorney was judged to have harmed the footballer through “bad-faith lawyering.”'

Former Ohio State football player Amir Riep of Colerain found not guilty of rape by a jury

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Franklin County jury on Thursday found two former Ohio State University football players not guilty of raping a female student in 2020 at a Northwest Side apartment. Amir I. Riep and Jahsen L. Wint, both 24, were defensive players for the football team when a then-19-year-old woman in her freshman year at Ohio State accused them of raping her on Feb. 4, 2020.

The jury found them not guilty on all charges: two counts each of rape and one count each of kidnapping.

Riep and Wint broke down crying and embraced after the jury verdict was read.

Defense attorneys Dan Sabol and Sam Shamansky, who represented Riep and Wint, respectively, argued during the trial that the woman had consensual sex with both men but regretted it afterward, and accused the victim's father of pushing his daughter and authorities to pursue criminal charges.'

Stanford denies ethics probe into female law professor accused of extreme anti-male bias

Article here. Excerpt:

'Stanford University will not open a Title IX and ethics investigation into law Professor Michele Dauber despite a list of allegations that allege to show her repeated bias against males.

On Jan. 1, a complaint was filed against Dauber citing numerous incidents meant to prompt a probe, including the professor’s denouncement of Johnny Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez.

The Stanford law professor called Vasquez on Twitter a “Pick Me Girl” and accused Vasquez of throwing all women “under the bus” for defending the actor against sexual assault allegations.

The complaint also cites tweets in which “Dauber also made lurid death threats against Johnny Depp, fantasizing about Depp’s murder – and his corpse being devoured by rats.”

The complaint also alleges Dauber issued “a veiled threat” against a male student online, supposedly implying Dauber “would press false sexual violence charges against him.”

The Navy Quietly Reshuffled The Super Bowl Flyover Team To All-Female Aviators

Article here. Excerpt:

'The U.S. Navy quietly ditched a team of aviators scheduled to conduct a traditional flyover before Super Bowl LVII and replaced it with a group of all female aviators, Military.com reported Friday.

A final roster first announced Thursday on Good Morning America featured 11 female pilots and flight officers out of a total of 16 aviators, seven of which are scheduled to perform the spectacle kicking off Sunday’s big game, according to Military.com. However, the original group of 15 flight officers featured three women, according to a press release dated Jan. 27, and were presented as a commemoration of 50 years of female participation in the Navy’s aviation program.
...
The initial announcement, still reflected in some social media posts, shows a small number of comments deriding the apparent lack of women in a lineup that was supposed to honor female Navy aviators. Most of the initial social media posts have since been deleted, according to Military.com.'

Why MeToo fallout is wrecking the lives of schoolboys

Article here. Excerpt:

'Boys are being damaged by “an excessive cultural shift” against them triggered by the #MeToo and Everyone’s Invited movements that has left many lost, insecure and traumatised, according to top child experts.

Julie Lynn-Evans, a psychotherapist with 35 years’ experience, says the two movements involving girls and women speaking out about sexual harassment have led to a “dangerous” backlash against boys. Many have done nothing wrong.

While her clients during lockdown were mostly teenage girls with eating disorders, or who were self-harming, they are now “exclusively” boys who have been ostracised, punished or even expelled for behaviour that she describes as little more than clumsy “teenage fumbling”.'

Toxic masculinity fuels dangerous driving like drink, French advert says

Don Gale: For better government, Utah should elect more women

Article here. Excerpt:

'Utah voters should elect more women to the Legislature and other government positions – not to achieve some sort of gender equality but because women would surely do a better job of serving the state and its citizens. Consider what has happened already at a Utah Legislature dominated by self-serving males.
...
Surely, female legislators would be more concerned about the wishes of their constituents.
...
Surely, thoughtful women would care more about the democratic future of the state and its residents.
...
Surely, women would be more considerate about troubled young people and their need for identity.
...
In response, voters must vote for lawmakers who care about their constituents, who believe in democracy, who have compassion for youth, and who are well-informed about issues.

That means voters must elect more women.'

'Toxic masculinity' fear, media portrayal as 'fools' contributing to men leaving workforce: Mikhaila Peterson

Article here. Excerpt:

'Host of the "The Mikhaila Peterson Podcast" and daughter of Jordan Peterson, Mikhaila Peterson, joined "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Saturday morning to share the factors contributing to the decline in men participating in the workforce. Peterson stressed that the media's portrayal of men, and the relationship between men and women play a role in the decline.

According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report, over 7 million men, ages 25 to 54, have left the workforce in 2022.

"I think there's a number of reasons," she said. "I think the increase in mental illness plays a role. So 50% of people will be diagnosed with a mental illness at some point in their lifetime, and that's going to contribute to men dropping out of the workforce."'

His birthday party was coming up, so she thought it would be the perfect occasion to teach him a lesson.

Without a second thought, she canceled it. But when she posted about the incident in an online parenting forum, the internet encouraged her to reconsider her decision, telling her it was “overkill.”

“They’re asking him about his bisexuality, things like when did he come out, when did he first date a guy, what were the differences between guys and girls,” the mom continued.

UK: Online misogyny set to be outlawed

Article here. Excerpt:

'Misogynistic abuse should be banned online, the Government believes.

Michelle Donelan, the Culture Secretary, is understood to believe the Online Safety Bill has the power to stamp out attacks on women on the internet.

The plans to crack down on online misogyny come as leading Tory peers including Baroness Morgan, a former culture secretary, are pushing for the law to go further to include a legally-enforced code of practice requiring social media firms to prevent online violence and abuse against women and girls.

Under the new Online Safety Bill, which is currently being finalised, social media firms will be required by law to abide by their terms and conditions, which generally bar misogynistic abuse.

Failure to enforce the terms and conditions will result in fines, and their services could be blocked by Ofcom, the online watchdog.

Further measures require big social media platforms to provide users with optional online tools that would allow women to screen out misogynistic abuse.

The Tragic Disconnect Between Men And Women – No Sex, No Babies, Lots Of Loneliness, Shrinking Populations

Article here. Excerpt:

'The news is full of seemingly disparate themes that urgently need connecting. The first is the nerdy macro-economics of demographics. China is shrinking for the first time in 60 years. South Korea’s birthrate is plummeting towards levels never seen before while that of the US is at a hundred-year low. The second strand is the toxic masculinity seeping across the planet, from the Tates and the Trumps, to the beleaguered backlash from women-repressing regimes in Iran and Afghanistan, and the general rise of gender-based violence across the world. The third is the crescendo of mental health and loneliness among the young. What’s the connection between demographics, toxic masculinity and epidemic levels of loneliness? Women.
