'A woman who called police to report domestic violence was charged herself with felonious assault after police learned she did not disclose her HIV-positive status to her boyfriend.

Tyeashea D. Taltoan, 27, told police her boyfriend David Brooks, 50, punched her in the face Tuesday evening during an argument at the Wagon Wheel Motel on Market Street, where the couple had been staying, and that she wanted to file domestic violence charges, according to reports. Police said they interviewed Brooks, who told them they were fighting because Taltoan did not disclose that she had HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, during their seven-month relationship when they had unprotected sexual relations.

Brooks said he confronted Taltoan after finding HIV-related medicine and that he wanted to pursue charges against her, reports state.'

Genesis Hernandez is studying English and culinary arts at Miami-Dade College.

She isn't surprised to hear single women in their 20s are earning more than young men.

"A woman has more motivation to study, to get a degree, to be somebody," Hernandez said. "For me it's really important to get a degree."

Education is key.

Both Time Magazine and USA Today say more women go to college than men.

Once there, women are more likely to graduate or earn advanced degrees.

Among African-Americans and Hispanics, women are more than twice as likely as men to earn college degrees.'

'The 77 cent figure has become a rallying cry for those who seek to eliminate employment discrimination based on gender. And it’s a genuine statistic. In a report released in September 2011, the U.S. Census Bureau wrote that in 2010, the female-to-male earnings ratio of full-time, year-round workers was 0.77." Translated into dollars, that means that in 2010, women working full-time earned 77 cents for every dollar earned by men working full time.

But the Obama ad takes a solid statistic and describes it incorrectly. The campaign is wrong to say that the 77-cent figure describes the pay differences between men and women "doing the same work." (By contrast, former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine recently earned a Mostly True on a similar claim because he was not specifying the number was for the same occupations.)

'According to a 2009 report, more than a quarter of English children do not have even a single male teacher at their school. For many children, that means they have greatly reduced contact during the day with an adult man until age 11 when they go to secondary school. Children who don’t have a father in the home may not have any regular contact with a male role model until they go to secondary school.

The situation is similar in America, and Canada, and Australia—where between 70 to 75 percent of teachers are female.

Why is society robbing young boys of the masculine role models they need?

The lack of male leaders in schools is all the more hurtful considering the fact that most of the children going to school come from broken families or families that will one day experience divorce. America has more than 13 million single parents raising more than 21 million children. More than four out of five of those custodial parents are mothers.'

'When the summer Olympics begin next month, commentators will point to young girls eagerly watching female track stars, soccer players, gymnasts and swimmers, and celebrate how Title IX, a law passed 40 years ago, has helped so many girls and young women have the chance to play sports.

That's an important part of Title IX's legacy.

Yet there's another side to the story. It's one that could be told by male gymnasts, swimmers, and track stars: And that's how men's sports teams have been sacrificed in order to achieve "proportionality" as demanded by those enforcing Title IX. Mothers concerned about their sons' diminishing prospects might rightly bow out of Title IX's anniversary celebrations, and ask why the focus continues to be solely on bolstering female participation on college campuses, even as young men fall further behind.'

'A one-month-old baby from Queen’s Park bled to death less than two days after he was circumcised, an inquest heard.

Angelo Ofori-Mintah’s operation went according to plan, but a few hours later the incision began to bleed.

Westminster Coroner’s Court heard it eventually stopped and his mother Maame Abrafi, who lives in Ashmore Road, thought he was fine.

However the following day he became cold and pale and was rushed to hospital with dangerously low oxygen levels.

He suffered a cardiac arrest and died in the early hours of February 17.

Tests revealed he had lost about three-quarters of his total blood volume and died as a result of an acute haemorrhage due to circumcision.'

To hear reporters tell it, Americans one and all are gathering to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Title IX. But if you look closer, you’ll notice that some people are missing - notably the thousands of male student-athletes who have lost participation opportunities because their teams were cut or capped.

However, the glowing media coverage of Title IX’s anniversary avoids these dirty details and blatantly crosses the line from objective reporting to cheerleading. Any damage done by Title IX’s enforcement is roundly ignored, and any criticism is summarily dismissed.

The team at ESPN has done its best to invent new scapegoats for the loss of male athletic opportunities. For example, ESPN’s Peter Keating claims that “you will find that the real enemy of men’s sports isn’t Title IX. It’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) scholarship limits.” His theory fails to consider that hundreds of colleges don’t even offer athletic scholarships.'

'The first radical shake-up of family courts in decades is under way in the U.K. A dramatic list of consequences will befall any breach of court orders that flout court-endorsed arrangements for the care of children of separated parents. Children’s Minister Tim Loughton will announce that the Children Act 19879, which states that the child comes first in law courts, will be rewritten.

Henceforth the preferred option for the courts will be “the presumption that a child’s welfare is likely to furthered through safe involvement with both parents.” That is, in the absence of abuse, equal parenting, exactly the template we have been patiently awaiting in Canada, will be the default for splitting couples. Furthermore, mothers who refuse to permit access to the children may lose their passports, their driving licences or even their freedom of movement if they fail to comply.

'FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A woman has been arrested and charged with filing a false police report after she claimed she was the victim of a sexual attack at Main Beach on May 30.

Jennifer Riechert, 32, was arrested Friday and was being held in the Nassau County Jail on $15,000 bond, according to a release from the Fernandina Beach Police Department.

Detectives found that the incident did not happen, and Riechert has since recanted her claim. Riechert purposely misidentified a man she described as homeless as her attacker.'
