Texas dad bangs drum for fathers' rights, calls for legislative change

Article here. Excerpt:

'After nearly 20 years marriage, a San Antonio-area man has found himself in a contested custody battle over their children. Now, he’s banging his drum outside of the Bexar County Courthouse and inside the Texas Capitol calling for justice for dad’s he believed are overlooked in custody cases – a claim not entirely backed by the Texas Family Code or by account of a local family law attorney.

Goerge Zachery married his ex-wife in March of 2004 in Bexar County, according to a marriage license on the county records website. Just over 18 years later, divorce paperwork was filed in Kendall County, about 30 miles north of San Antonio. Now, George Zachery is appealing to a higher court, looking to overturn a Boerne-area judge's rulings.'

Report: Democrats Set $20 Million Plan to Win Back Young Men

Article here. Excerpt:

'“Democratic donors and strategists have been gathering at luxury hotels to discuss how to win back working-class voters, commissioning new projects that can read like anthropological studies of people from faraway places,” national political correspondent Shane Goldmacher wrote.

The Democrats reportedly coded the plan SAM – Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan.

“The prospectus for one new $20 million effort, obtained by The Times, aims to reverse the erosion of Democratic support among young men, especially online,” wrote Goldmacher. “It is code-named SAM — short for ‘Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan’ — and promises investment to ‘study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces.’”'

Video shows Emmanuel Macron being pushed in face by wife

Article here. Excerpt:

'Brigitte Macron placed her hands on her husband's face as they prepared to exit their plane after touching down in Vietnam at the start of a South East Asia tour.

President Macron is seen taking a step back before he recovers and waves to the cameras at the bottom of the aircraft stairs.

The pair then walk down the steps together.

The Elysee initially denied the authenticity of images of the interaction before eventually verifying they were real, French media reported.

The clip has sparked suggestions of an argument between the pair but Mr Macron said afterwards it was a case of "simply joking with my wife as we often do".

Speaking to French media after landing in Hanoi he rubbished claims of a "domestic incident", instead telling broadcasters "it was nothing" and that people on social media were making "nonsense" out of the video.'

White men ‘in pit of worry’ over doing or saying wrong thing at work

Article here. From the UK. Interesting phenomenon. Personally I don't fret too much since I'm inclined to be focused on work while at work but I can definitely see how the more gregarious would find it troubling. Excerpt:

'Almost a quarter of white men say they are discriminated against for their race and gender, according to a poll, amid warnings it is pushing them towards influencers such as Andrew Tate.

Research commissioned for White Men Can’t Work!, a five-part podcast and YouTube series hosted by the documentary maker Tim Samuels, suggested that nearly half of white men in the UK are self-censoring at work because they fear that saying the wrong thing could cost them their jobs. Some 41 per cent say they feel anxious that they can be sacked for doing or saying the wrong thing.

Woman arrested for kidnapping and torture not being prosecuted

Article here. Excerpt:

'The brunette beauty arrested alongside Kentucky-based crypto investor John Woeltz for the alleged kidnap and torture of an Italian man in Manhattan is a small-time actor who claims to work as a marketing manager for luxury brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley and whose family lives in Connecticut.

Beatrice Folchi – the 24-year-old who police sources said worked as Woeltz’s assistant – was arrested Friday at the SoHo penthouse where a man from Turin, Italy, told cops he was held hostage and brutally tortured for nearly three weeks, in a sick extortion attempt to gain the password to his cryptocurrency account.

She was charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, but the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute pending further investigation, a spokesperson said.'

Men Are Calling Other Men to Say Good Night, and the Results Are Amazing

Article here. Excerpt:

'When DeAndre Scarborough, a 24-year-old content creator and college research coordinator, decided to call several of his male friends, and his brother, to wish them each a good night, he knew that they’d be thrown for a loop.

Lying in bed with his girlfriend around 11 p.m., Mr. Scarborough made a call, delivering the good night message to a friend who immediately responded with confusion and laughter, asking, “You good?”
In between giggles, another friend, equally confused, said, “Man you’re calling the wrong number, these freak hours.”

Mr. Scarborough had seen the trend online and, after some nudging by his girlfriend, decided to upload his own video. He said what makes this trend “twice as funny” as others is that it’s so uncommon for men to talk to each other vulnerably.

Woman jailed for dousing friend in petrol, set him alight after sexist remark

Article here. Excerpt:

'A woman who doused a “lifelong friend” in petrol and set him alight after being angered by his misogynistic comments has just been sentenced to seven-and-a-half-years in prison.

Corbie Jean Walpole, 25, pleaded guilty in December to one charge of burning or maiming by using corrosive fluid and had hoped to receive a non-custodial sentence.

However, she was told she would spend a minimum four-and-a-half-years behind bars after a judge denied her plea for mercy, according to ABC.

Judge Jennifer English said she rejected the claim that Walpole was “provoked” when she attacked her friend, Jake Loader, on a night out in January last year.

“It is never easy to send a young person, particularly a young woman, to jail,” Judge English told the NSW District Court in Albury, shortly before 10am on Thursday.'

UK: Woman who set her friend on fire faces imminent sentencing

Article here. I'm guessing maybe she gets 2-5 years, eligible for parole in two, etc. I.e., a slap on the wrist. Guess we'll know soon! Excerpt:

'A woman who doused her childhood friend in petrol and set him on fire after he made what she deemed as misogynistic comments will learn on Thursday if she is going to jail.
...
Prosecutors want Walpole jailed for setting Jake Loader ablaze as he sat on a chair in her backyard at Howlong, about 30km west of Albury, early last year.

Mr Loader, who lives in outback Queensland, was in Howlong to join old friends including Walpole for a night on the drink, which included celebrating a 21st birthday.

Walpole claimed Mr Loader had been baiting her before she poured five litres of petrol over his head and used a cigarette lighter to turn him into a human torch.

'He was antagonising me,' she previously told the NSW District Court, sitting in Albury.'

Study Suggests Scientists Are Sexist — Just Not Against Women

Article here. Excerpt:

'Every feminist circa 2013 came pre-installed with a few rote talking points. The wage gap. The patriarchy. Pervasive and debilitating sexism in all walks of life – but especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

A new review of scientific literature on sex bias in academia has produced direct evidence against that last myth. Researchers synthesized studies produced from 2000 to 2020, looking for evidence of bias as it relates to critical career advancements. Not only did they find that “tenure-track women are at parity with tenure-track men” in grant funding, journal acceptances, and recommendation letters – women have more of an advantage over men when it comes to hiring.

Should Feminists Care About Male Suffering?

Article here. Excerpt:

'But the idea that feminists and other progressives are perpetuating male suffering by denying it is wildly inaccurate. Most women I know are screaming at men from the rooftops: “We want you to make more friends! We want you to be more vulnerable! We are desperate for you to understand emotional labor and take on more of it!”

We know men have problems. We see these problems manifest in our fathers, our brothers, our partners, our sons, our coworkers, our friends. And when these problems manifest in the form of violence and abuse, as they so often do, we also suffer the consequences.

The Richard Reeveses of the world claim to be “reframing” debates about gender, but their efforts fall short. They are telling people, women in particular, to care more about the problems of men, as though women haven’t already spent centuries tending to the needs and wounds of our boys and men.

OnlyFans users face prison under harsh new Swedish prostitution law

Article here. So porn vids are still legal to buy. However asking a girl to diddle her friend on camera for pay is going to be illegal. Literally the difference is that in the first case the viewer doesn't communicate with the performers and in the second, he does. Other than that, what? Sweden seems to be on its way to outlawing maleness. Excerpt:

'OnlyFans users in Sweden could face prison sentences under a harsh new law that treats buying online sex shows the same as paying a prostitute for sex.

The law, which will take effect July 1, also criminalizes profiting from or promoting others who perform sexual acts for payment on demand.

“This is a new form of sex purchase, and it’s high time we modernize the legislation to include digital platforms,” Swedish member of parliament Teresa Carvalho said after the bill passed.'

Why a men's barbershop has sparked fury from Aussie women over a controversial policy

Article here. Excerpt:

'A barbershop owner has defended his male-only policy despite mothers complaining they have been forced to wait outside while their sons get a haircut.

Robbie Ferrante operates Robbie's Chop Shop in the inner south Adelaide suburb of Unley and labels it the 'last male sanctuary' where guys of all ages can 'get away and chill'.

His business has struck a chord with some women such as Elena Téa who shared a scathing TikTok video questioning how the place was able 'to continue'.

Local women complained they had been forced to sit outside while their sons or brothers received a haircut.

Mr Ferrante told Daily Mail Australia on Monday his shop aimed to fill a gap for young men who are searching for a place of community.

'What I saw over time was a lot of boys didn't have good role models, (who) needed a little bit of a helping hand or someone that could just sort of guide them,' he said.

Science or Spin? Testosterone, Masculinity, or the Last Gasp of Woke

Article here. Excerpt:

'One of the strangest omissions in the paper is its refusal to ask the most important question: Why do men want to be more masculine? The authors treat this desire as something odd or unhealthy—like it’s a social problem to be solved—without ever asking what’s driving it.

The reality is that men operate in a masculine status hierarchy, where increased masculinity often brings greater access to success, admiration, influence, and romantic attention. Men at the top of this hierarchy tend to attract the highest-value partners, gain more respect, and earn more. The drive to be more masculine isn’t irrational—it’s strategic.

What pushes men upward in that hierarchy? Testosterone. It fuels status-seeking, assertiveness, and competitiveness. The work of Christoph Eisenegger has shown that testosterone’s real effect goes beyond aggression, and into a deeper, more adaptive drive to attain and maintain status.'
