Chemist gets life for husband's acid vat murder

'FRESNO, California (AP) -- A biochemist was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday for killing her estranged husband by knocking him out and stuffing him into a vat of acid, possibly while he was still alive.

Larissa Schuster was convicted in December of murdering Timothy Schuster with the special circumstance that the murder was committed for financial gain. At the time of his death in July 2003, the Schusters were in the middle of a divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage.

Just days after Timothy Schuster was reported missing, his half-dissolved remains -- intact from only the belt buckle down -- were found inside a 55-gallon barrel concealed in a storage unit his wife had rented.

Kristin Schuster, the couple's adult daughter, told the judge that she felt safer knowing her mother would be behind bars.'

Not that there's any good way to die, but being dissolved by acid is a brutal death. I could not imagine the pain.

In the UK in the 1940s, we had an infamous murderer called John George Haigh - known as the "acid bath murderer". He dissolved his victims in a tank of acid, in the belief that if there was no body to be found, there could be no conviction.

He was wrong. He was caught and convicted. They hanged him.

But then of course, he had a penis.

At least in this case there was some kind of sentence given,Life without parole is very long time.As it so often happens when a women murders a man, she would only get a slap on the hand for a sentence,and would be home watching those mindless daytime TV shows in six months,that keeps telling women how abused and victimized they are by men.

does this mean he won't have to pay alimony?

probably just deduct it monthly from what's left of his estate,
after the legal thieves get through w/ it.

what's life in a kalifornia prison these days, w/ good behave
and the victim (womyn) status and all, coupla years?
