UNL Student Paper: Women-only gym hours not likely - but still, it'd be OK if they had them

Story here. The story starts out by saying that women-only hours at the gym are not likely at UNL. Then it says that Kalamazoo College has had women only hours for about 3 years. The funny thing is at Harvard everyone justifies the discrimination against men by pointing out that there are other gyms on campus. At Kalamazoo College, there is no other gym! Excerpt:

'Several of the schools' women-only gym hours were made to satisfy the women's religious desires. A group of Muslim women from Harvard, Orthodox Jews from Queens College and Christians from Wheaton College successfully lobbied their schools to implement women-only hours. Kalamazoo College offers women-only gym for an hour and half Tuesday evening and early Sunday morning to make their women feel more comfortable.

"The religious rights brought this issue to the forefront," said Jan Deeds, director of the women's center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. "But many other women could also relate."

Daniela Bravo and Stephani Ruiz are two UNL students who were flummoxed when asked their opinions on women-only gym hours.
...
Not necessarily. The schools that offer women-only gym don't have men-only hours.

"Oh, wow," Ruiz said. "Then I might use it. It depends."'

If women are excluded, it's sexism.
If men are excluded, it's defended.

Here is my comment, if it ever gets published:

So when women practice it, it isn't sexism. Why not? Funny how nobody being quoted in this story even so much as considers the blatant sexism inherent in banning men for certain periods, but not reciprocating by banning women for other periods so men can have their time without the "prying eyes" of females. Look at the comments of Ruiz and Bravo. No mention of how unfair it would be if men were not allowed the same rights as women; just an expression of pleasure and satisfaction at the prospect. And these are the women who intend to command positions of power in future? God help any men who come under their control.

The whole emphasis is on giving women what they demand, regardless of how dishonest or hypocritical those demands are, or how they may hurt others. Or does hurting men not count?

This is a really interesting story because women from three different religions petitioned successfully for gender apartheid.

Apparently the shared assumption is that the mere presence of men is a kind of threat or even violence.

And so colleges are proactively "gendering" spaces to provide women with a kind of vague protection from an even vaguer threat.

As other articles posted on this site have illustrated, "the male gaze" is now a criminal act!

As masculinity continues to be criminalized, men are going to wise up and disassociate themselves from women.

It is going to become harder and harder for girls to find a date for the Prom, let alone a marriage proposal -- because of men's fear of arrest and litigation.

The girls wanted a Gender War. Now they have one.

I don't know - I've been using Gyms for over 20 years, and it's always been about as much like a "meat market" as a church is. The men don't even ogle the women, much less approach them. If anything, I've occasionally seen women ogling men. Also, one time I went to an aerobics class and a woman was wearing a T-shirt that said on the back, "A hard man is good to find." What if a man wore a T-shirt that said "A lubricated woman is good to find"? Most people are too stupid and/or misandric to let someone do that.
