'A scientific technique that could allow same-sex couples to create their own biological child in a laboratory should be allowed under law, a group of influential scientists said on Monday.

The experts, all international leaders in embryology research, called on ministers not to restrict such "important" research.

The laboratory creation of eggs and sperm from other cells could offer hope to thousands of people unable to have children of their own.

Although the creation of both sperm and eggs in a laboratory is still at an early stage, the Hinxton group, made up of 40 world-renowned experts, estimates that the procedure could be used to create human foetuses within 15 years.'

This technique is for both 2 sperm and 2 eggs. In short, gay men can become literally "the two daddies".

From a genomics standpoint, this sort of thing will produce a very short-lived version of humanity. Without the cross of chromosomes, the offspring will succumb quickly to parasites and various forms of immune dysfunction. Bad idea all-around.

This should either be illegal if it clashes with ethics. Or if this becomes legal then it should ONLY be legal when artificial wombs/external wombs are used on a massive scale so that gays are not disadvantaged in any way compared to lesbians.

The shift from internal growth of babies to external is like removing a heavy burden and also freeing i.e. men from their dependency on internal wombs for reproduction.

I'm trying to imagine how the family courts will handle child support and child custody cases when the 2 daddies/2 mommies decide to divorce.

Without sperm donors to go after, or an ordinary biological dad, there'll be nobody to stick the child support payments with.
