Teen Girls Killed in Wreck After Attempting to Rob Cab Driver

'LOS ANGELES — Two teenage girls involved in a botched robbery attempt died when the taxi they were in crashed during a high-speed chase after one teen slashed the cab driver's face, Los Angeles police said.

The two 17-year-old girls had flagged down the cab early Tuesday and asked to be taken to a nearby housing project, where one girl said her boyfriend would come and pay the fare, police said.
Instead, a man shoved a handgun through the taxi window...

"One of the females pulled out a box cutter and began cutting the taxi cab driver, and that's what caused him to crash," Officer April Harding said.

Hector Jasso and Daniel Martinez, both 20, were arrested for investigation of murder because the girls' deaths occurred during the alleged commission of a crime, Lee said. Both were being held without bail. The third occupant of the car was released.

I'm not sure about this one
Obviously these girls should not be excused for their actions. But the fact that they died makes me apprehesive to criticize their actions. Maybe I'm just missing the big picture.
Help me out guys. Feedback is always encouraged.
My view
Well, it looks like the girls were involved in the crime. When things didn't go their way they started slashing the driver. The driver crashes, killing the girls.
In my opinion, nobody should be tried for murder because the girls caused their own death.
It might be hard for a jury to swallow that girls died and a man didn't do it, though.
Some more thoughts
Their behaviour is the sole reason they're dead.
If I was asked if they deserved to die, I would say, no. I would rather them alive and face their crimes with the same accountability as a man.
I never hate the person but rather hate what the person did.
I'm against the death penalty and against the "eye for an eye" ideology. That's probably why I a bit conflicted about this story.
I think I really just have a problem with the title of the story. It almost sounds vindictive. I'm not sure that makes any sense.
And The Darwin Award Goes To...
I suppose I've just gotten to a point where I'm fed up with all the evil in the world. Thus, I must say it doesn't bother me one bit that the girls involved in this incident died. After all, they did it to themselves. Actually, I couldn't help but feel like I was reading a scene out of my movie "You Should Know Better" in which the evildoers are paid in full for their evil as a result of their own actions. The girls deserve a darwin award for this. Obviously, it's not a wise move to slash somebody when they're operating a fast-moving 2000 lb. metal box. I'm just sad that the other two involved weren't killed as well. At least they'll rot in jail for a while. I'm glad the cab driver survived.
As you can see, I have not been brainwashed by PC bile. I believe in accountability regardless of gender. If you're female and you cause your own death by acting like a spoiled bitch, I'm just gonna laugh at you. To me, self-inflicted injury and death is almost always amusing.
