"Why top jobs elude women"
This was published in Australia on News.com.au today.
Apparently, top jobs are still held back from the poor women, the glass ceiling just never goes away does it. So okay, maybe women don't want those jobs, and maybe they prefer more flexibility in their life, but hey that's no reason for them not to get them, right?
The interesting thing is, there's no comparison based on choice. For example I'm a male single parent low-level manager with young kids, in a dynamic fast-moving company. I 'could' choose to go for a higher level management role, but I wouldn't as it would cost me too much in time with my kids - and equally I wouldn't get picked, because management know I'd always be saying no to extra events and evening functions. So, how is that different from how women are treated..?
A direct comparison piece of research is needed here...

Gender Math
Men have obligations.
Women have choices.
Men accept their obligations.
Women refuse their choices.
It's not too complicated.
That's all nature
Good to see in comments to the article that in Australia not all people are brainwashed, and many say very reasonable things. Such as that the main and only "glass ceiling" for women nowadays is their natural deficiency of qualities required for top jobs in business and politics. Women on the average have smaller IQ than men, women are too emotional, they cannot make quick and authoritative decisions, etc., etc. (and that's even not mentioning "baby and family issues", of course).

Ignore my post here (I really wish we could delete our own comments)
Let's see...
...if men did not depend on working to maintain a good standard of living, I would imagine there would be less of us in the work force, as well.
It ain't rocket science.
Well said

To Kathryn: You refer to the United States where you state women make 75% of financial decisions. If thats the example you want to use, its a good example why women should not handle the finaces etc. Have a look at the US, families are up to their eye balls in debt, the contry is broke.
Actually, there is NOT A SINGLE sphere of activity (beyond housekeeping and breastfeeding) where women could make not only better decisions than men, but SIMPLY GOOD DECISIONS.

The Girls
Ouch!
Such truth-telling is severely painful.
How many female corporate CEO's have been fired recently?
The worst experiences I have ever had as an executive professional have been while working in universities with a female president.
You cannot imagine how diabolical they can be when they decide to "feminize" and "diversify" the institution.
It is quite interesting, and you can see it happening at any school or college today.
