LA Times: What campus rape crisis?
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2008-02-26 02:37
Story here. Excerpt:
"It's a lonely job, working the phones at a college rape crisis center. Day after day, you wait for the casualties to show up from the alleged campus rape epidemic -- but no one calls. Could this mean that the crisis is overblown? No. It means, according to campus sexual-assault organizations, that the abuse of coeds is worse than anyone had ever imagined. It means that consultants and counselors need more funding to persuade student rape victims to break the silence of their suffering."

What this leads to
This kind of setting is ideal for lowering the bar of what is considered rape. He hit on me? Rape! He bumped into me and accidentally grabbed my ass? Rape! I had a few drinks and fucked a guy and regret it? Rape! See? There really IS a crisis on campuses everywhere! More money please!
The illusion lasts as long as people still associate rape with rape. The minute people start associating rape with mistakes or other petty crap, the game is up. The same thing can be said about the sex offender registry. As more teenagers are getting put on this list for life for sleeping with slightly younger teenagers, who gives a shit if one moves next to you?
As the definition of rape is diluted, the fear-mongering becomes more and more absurd and less respected. The idea of sex-starved males sneaking around the campus at night looking for their next victims will cease to be anything more than propaganda for the next batch of feminist sheep. Normal people will disregard such nonsense because of what low shit feminists have pulled in the past. It's a shame because there really ARE people like that, just not in record numbers in campuses all across the country. What they are doing is encouraging so much crying wolf that you can't hear the real victims.
Disempowering Women for Profit?
The critical line in this article is this one -- "Believing in the campus rape epidemic, it turns out, requires ignoring women's own interpretations of their experiences."
That is because Feminism, rather than the Evil Patriarchy, is the main social force victimizing women.
The entire DV Industry disempowers women when their families are destroyed because women cannot drop trivial charges of abuse (maybe a single non-physical disagreement) once the women's advocates and prosecutors take over.
There is no campus rape epidemic.
But there are thousands of lesbians who need to get a monthly salary.
Plaster Caster
Feminists will find anyway to manipulate stats. in order to somehow justify their man hating agenda.
During my 4 years of college I never heard of one sexual assault or rape. Keep in mind I went to a school with over 20,000 students.
I was also in a fraternity and many feminists believe "Greek" parties are a high risk factor for women.
If feminists think fraternities are a haven for pornographic male sexuality, think again.
For example:
Three years ago a sorority actually had a party called "plaster Caster".
The theme was based on Cynthia Plaster Caster, a woman famous for making plaster casts of rock stars' penises. I think it was also a song by KISS.
Guys had the option of going into a private room and make a plaster model of their genitals.
Some guys did participate but keep in mind this was a FEMALE sponsored party.
FYI: I didn't participate.

I Coulda Told You That
I knew that 1 in 4 was a load of crap. The actual rape rate is 34.4/100 000 . It's not even close! I was always curious how they arrived at the conclusion 1 in 4, and it was interesting to read this in the article. Obviously there is no rape epidemic, but rather a false accusation of rape epidemic.
BTW, that plaster caster event sounds pretty immature. I wouldn't have participated either. Not unless they had chicks getting their boobs plastered too. The idea of such an event sounds denigrating to men.

That is heinous injustice..the worst I have heard lately
A sorority that provides for guys to make casts of their penises? What do you think would happen, if a fraternity offered women the opportunity to make plaster casts of their breasts??
The resultant outrage would, at least, lead to the elimination of certain fraternities nationwide. And also would generate months of media hysteria and hype, totally eclipsing coverage of Brittney Spears' debacle.

I must be fair
The theme was sponsored by the sorority and approved by my fraternity. We knew what the theme was before the party. No one was forced to attend.
Honestly I think the whole idea was basically a joke that got a bit out of hand once the kegs were tapped.
I really don't blame either the men or women. Just a bunch of horny college kids looking for any exuse to get laid. In this case it was the "ladies" looking for a one nighter.
My point is this:
Exposing the fairy tail that college girls are innocent angels corrupted by male sexuality. This particular idea came from the minds of college girls. Doesn't sound innocent to me.
