NOW to Monitor Super Bowl Ads for Offensive Content
Submitted by Roy on Fri, 2008-02-01 17:04
Article here. Excerpt:
"The NOW Foundation is going on the offensive this year with our 2008 Feminist Super Bowl AdWatch," said NOW Foundation President Kim Gandy. "Almost as many women as men watch the Super Bowl, and millions of girls and boys are glued to the screen as well," said Gandy. "That's why our feminist ad-watchers will be paying close attention to the commercials and ranking them based on their portrayal of women and other groups who often see themselves stereotyped, ridiculed or just plain missing in high-profile ads."
Somehow I suspect that there won't be enough lesbians represented in the beer commercials. Just a hunch...

Gandy is a senseless pig - she should be executed
Gandy says, "That's why our feminist ad-watchers will be paying close attention to the commercials and ranking them based on their portrayal of women and other groups who often see themselves stereotyped, ridiculed or just plain missing in high-profile ads"
That must include white heterosexual males, since they are the most stereotyped and ridiculed of all.
More peoples' lives would be saved if they executed the top five feminist leaders in the U.S., and then freed all the guys on death row - in other words, repeat murders by the guys who were in prison would be outweighed by the good to society of executing leading feminazis.

i'll help as much as possible
i too will monitor the action on the field to make sure
1. no women are abused or physically harmed in any way
2. all cheerleaders are observed equally and fairly
3. no feminist lesbians sneak onto the field dressed as mascots
i will also keep an eye on all beer commercials to insure proper content.
let's all vow to do our part to help too.
feminist male hatred is so visible for all to see. wonder if prez hitlery would try to ban the Super Bowl, or just require it to be infiltrated and all broadcasts controlled by lesbians? tell me they aren't going to have female broadcasters for Super Sunday, are they? please, NOT HERE!
don't forget to watch this also..
Make sure that when the obligatory woman reporter goes in the winners' locker room, that none of the guys are naked below the waste, and none of them are cussing or engaging in any other "male behaviour" that whiney feminists find disgusting.

NOW website...
Holy crap. This story is on the N.O.W. website. Had I known, I'd have never followed the link.
Now I feel like I need to go and scrub my hands with some industrial hand cleaner.
I'm gonna have nightmares of Gandy chasing me through a dark forest with monster sex toys and some lube.
Won't these sows be far too busy...
...spreading lies, misandry and other distortions about domestic violence, rape, etc. etc. to watch the game? Isn't that "participating in their own oppression" or some other such bullshit? I know the domestic violence-Superbowl hoax blew up in their fat, hairy faces, but surely they've got better things to do with their time, given the rampant misandry in most television programming and advertising.
Nope, all they do is whine bitch and complain
That's their idea of productivity.
I liked this quote in the article though:
"That's why our feminist ad-watchers will be paying close attention to the commercials and ranking them based on their portrayal of women and other groups who often see themselves stereotyped, ridiculed or just plain missing in high-profile ads."
Now I am going to keep a tally sheet by my side during the commercials to keep a running tally of race and gender in the commercials. I don't need to predict the future to know that women will overwhelmingly be the most represented in the ads as opposed to 'just plain missing'. I am also certain beyond doubt that the most stereotyped group by a huge margin will be males. Plus, I won't be surprised at all to see more ads targeting female viewers then stereotyping them.
Fuck, in Canada the Best Buy commercials advertising big screen TVs for the game are mostly aimed at women this year... but it makes sense from Best Buy's perspective cause they know which gender controls the disposable income in this country...
It's true, MEN are the ones being demeaned in the commercials
Right on about that Paragon. It will be almost all men (of all races--not just white, I've seen a number of ads where black men, for instance, are made to be idiots in front of their wives/girlfriends) who are going to be the ones ridiculed and dehumanized in the ads, while no doubt the men watching will just sit there and take it (and inside many will become ever more pent up with feelings of frustration, alienation, anger, depression...). NOW interprets seeing scantily clad women as sexist, too deluded to see how the men in those ads are portrayed as drooling, brainless animals totally enthralled by female sexual power. More evidence that organizations such as NOW (like SOW in Canada) are becoming increasingly irrelevent as they have nothing better to do but "roar" against domineering skanks in t.v. commercials
Have Your Cell on 911 Speed-dial for SuperBowl
Kim Gandy and her ilk at NOW are extremely concerned about how women are "represented" in the mass media. The SuperBowl is just an excuse for them to trot out the same old lame feminist jargon and get their 15 seconds of fame for 2008.
Funny, but I do not recall any feminists protesting the misandrist "Boys Are Stupid, Throw Rocks at Them" t-shirts that are still being sold; nor can I recall a feminist march on Washington to end the all-male draft registration which conscripts men and only men as potentially disposable cannon fodder. (Well, today that would be I.E.D. fodder.)
More and more if you look at what NOW is about, it's merely about putting out press releases to announce that they still exist.
No self-respecting young woman would ever join NOW, and that's why only 450 geriatric harpies with large tubes of dipilatory gel turned out for last year's national convention.
I suspect that if you could get an honest anonymous head count of who has more members - the KKK or NOW - it would be a toss-up.
But with VAWA putting $1 billion a year into keeping the feminist system alive, it really does not matter that NOW may be just Kim Gandy and some few dozen friends posing as a national movement.
No politician will ever vote against The Violence Against Women Act, until it is renamed the Family Domestic Violence Act or some better gender neutral label.
Those T-Shirts?
If I recall correctly, not only did groups like NOW not object to the "Boys Are Stupid..." T-shirts, but they were quoted as saying (dismissively), "We have better things to do than get excited about a shirt." Riiiiiiiiiight.
Let's all do what Paragon is doing: if you're watching the Super Bowl, count how many commercials are offensive to men, showing men as stupid or worthless or sex-crazed, or showing men being hurt, by women or otherwise, as humorous, et cetera.
Men's Rights + Women's Rights = HUMAN Rights
Watch/Rate All 2007 SuperBowl Ads
If you want to prep for the '08 ad ratings, you can watch streaming video of all the 2007 SuperBowl commercials at the link below.
They are all based on humor, which is probably already offensive to feminists.
"Humor makes me angry!"

These fat now/cows will be
These fat now/cows will be perched over the tube with a 5 lb. bag of doritos, and 2-2liters of mountain dew, 3 king size snickers bars, and a cell phone.
They will deperatelly try and manufacture and recreate different things to show women are oppressed, and it's only the skinny girls making it in the commercials!!
that cracks me up :-))
"..blew up in their fat, hairy faces"
ha ha!! That's hilarious!!!

Rodents 11 - Lesbians 0
So far, (at half-time) there have been more rodents in the commercials than lesbians.
Do the rodents have a national organization with more members than NOW?
Well, it might actually be 10 - 1, because the rabbit looked kind of bi-sexual....
Lotsa Rodents, eh?
Well then, NOW has nothing to complain about. Looks to me like they're being represented plenty in the commercials. I just hope the commercials also include some sort of mouse trap, or poison which kills them as well.
I don't even know why women bitch about advertisements. Women are always portrayed as beautiful and/or smart, while men are portrayed as complete morons, sex-crazed idiots, or even worse, violence victims (and we're supposed to laugh like sick sadists). TV has always been more offensive to men. How about all the jokes about penis size, impotence, sexual violence, etc? Women don't have to put up with the female equivalent of said derogation. I rest my case.

Yeah Sheldon, but..
How many black men were made fun of in the presence of white men (or even white women)? White men are made fun of in front of EVERYBODY. No other class of people is subjected to that.

SuperBowl Commercials Videostreams
You can watch all the '08 SuperBowl commercials at the link below. (Assuming you're not crying your eyes out for the Pats....)
My initial impression is that very few women were exploited this year, can't recall a single big boob joke, and only two ads showed guys getting kicked in the groin.
Can't wait to read Kim Gandy's interpretation, probably protesting the lack of lesbian squirrels.

Surprise Surprise
I knew at least one stupid ad exec was going to have the old nut shot in an advertisement. When are people going to realize that finding that type of thing funny is like laughing at someone getting raped? Well, at least they had to pay through the nose for the ads.
It reminds me of the GoDaddy superbowl ad that got pulled, because it showed a woman, fully clothed, running through sprinklers on a golf course. No one seemed to give a damn that a guy got hit in the groin by a golf ball in the ad, amongst other men who are hurt as a result of watching the woman run through the sprinklers. It was pulled because it was "misogynistic". Whatever... I didn't see any woman getting demeaned in the commercial. I can't say the same for the men who were the victims of slapstick violence.
I despise the advertising industry.

Real Men Don't Take Abuse!
What's the difference between a Hollywood exec and a politician?
A Hollywood exec makes money from depicting men as violent and moronic.
A politician endorses legislation which ensures that, 1)men will be violent due to growing up without fathers, and 2)men will grow up to become morons after suffering as boys in our misandric education system.
In other words, all it takes is these two types of vermin together, to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

NOW's SuperBowl Ad Ratings Posted
Kim Gandy and her crack squad of feminist media critics really couldn't find much to get hysterical about in this year's ads.
Mostly they whined about the "lack of women" being shown in the commercials.(One rater noted that animals had replaced women as more interesting characters in the ads.)
Gosh, maybe guys really "are not that into you!" (Just a little girlie narcissism showing when the spotlight is not on you, maybe?)
So, excerpts from NOW's reviews, with complete link below:
"... the NOW Foundation got in the game and compiled our own feminist rankings for the best and worst ads. Volunteer monitors rated the ads based on four categories: representation/diversity, sexual exploitation, violence, and social responsibility.
Our monitors commented that while the ads weren't as offensive as in years past, very few women were featured. "By the second quarter, I said to my friends that there were more animals in the ads than women," said Karen from Florida.
"Women were virtually non-existent in speaking roles and the overwhelming tone exalted violence," reported Gail from Texas.
Another monitor stressed that when women were shown they were as passive objects - not active players in the storyline. Often, women's sexual availability to men was central to the theme of the sales pitch.
The use of diversity in the ads could often be boiled down to "blatant racism" and "ethnic exploitation," as many of these characters were stereotyped and cartoonish.
In general, "poor taste" was a common comment, as was "just plain dumb."
---
(I guess "poor taste" has replaced "blatant sexism" as the latest Evil Patriarchal epidemic? And, I noticed that there was a distinct lack of females on the actual playing field.)

It Just Kills Them
That there are still arenas which are mainly male. Like the cancer they are, they have to spread to everything masculine and try to take over it as well. It's not enough that they can kill or have our baby against our will, falsely accuse us of crimes and see us rot in jail, work out in gyms for laides only, etc. It makes me think, someone who would watch the superbowl's ads just to find something to complain about has way too much time on their hands. I also couldn't help but notice how NOW had no problem with the guys getting hit in the groin, despite the fact that they were monitoring for violence. What a bunch of hypocrites!

Once again the rather false claim that white men are more oppressed and have been ridiculed and demeaned in America more than black men.

The Women are at Fault by Matthias Matussek
A Dying Breed
I think NOW is realizing that it has a serious problem, because they just do not have any resonance with younger women, let alone young mangina-type men.
Pretty much everything that NOW publishes on its web site is a plea for self-promotion and fifteen minutes of relevance.
No woman under the age of 50 can relate to Kim Gandy, and Kimmy Girl is actually on the young side of the average NOW member.
It is indeed a dying breed, and they keep trying to find some young spunky outraged symbolic daughters to pass the torch to ...
Problem is, those girls haven't experienced the "oppression" NOW markets as its main gender bait; and nobody really wants to be like grandma.... as much as you may love her and wish her well.
Pull the plug on VAWA and its taxpayer-funded money machine, and NOW disappears tomorrow.
Equally Oppressed?
If you put the comments in context of commercial advertising, where political correctness virtually mandates that there are certain categories of people who cannot be made fun of...
then it becomes reasonable to make the argument that white men are typically the bumbling dads and incompetent boyfriends, because it is too risky to portray black, asian, hispanic, muslim men in this fashion.
(The Bud Lite SuperBowl ads yesterday showing Carlos Mencia as a teacher instructing a room of multi-ethnic men in basic English took a lot of heat from the feminist crowd as a kind of "profiling....")
My point is that advertisers cannot typically afford to be politically incorrect in this age of feminist dogma.
I would never argue that white men have been "equally oppressed"...
Strange term that.
Particularly relevant given our current race vs. gender "oppression Olympics" Presidential campaign, right?
What about age-ism? (The McCain crowd?)
yeah, what about age-ism?
i saw no commercials w/ old broads in nursing homes swilling Bud and farting.
where were the old men getting kicked in the Nads?
why no geezer/geezerette floats?
why no showing grannies gumming some new bubblegum, blowing grannie bubbles?
why no grandpa job search sites on display?
why, why, why?
good game tho.
Irony
Can you even imagine being at Kim Gandy's house in D.C., with all the girlies in front of the wide-screen plasma TV, just waiting for the commercials...
Not even comprehending the game?
Oh, I want to get married to one of them gals... the ones that liked the Budweiser ad!
Sad country, tragic gender wars, and a fantastic SuperBowl!
when you say "have been", what exactly do you mean?
There are several things to be addressed and asked here:
1)Once again, you left a dangling html tag. No-one can directly reply to your comment.
2)At no point did I say that white men were "more oppressed" than black men. You have the exact same fundamental misunderstanding, that you did the last time this subject came up.
3) What do you mean by "have been" ridiculed? I'm not talking about in the past, I'm talking about NOW. Currently. The present. White men ARE more ridiculed in the media. Why are you in denial as to that very obvious fact????

I have to Agree With Ax
No disrespect, Mr. R; I agree that black men have been more opressed than white men overall. However, I believe in the modern day white men are denigrated more than black men in ads. The ratio is probably around 10:1. The reason is what Roy said. Advertisers cannot afford to be politically incorrect.
Nonetheless, I'm rooting for Obama to win the US election. He would do wonders for the nation. Since he's had to put up with more than his fair share of discrimination, I'm sure he would fight to stop all forms of it.

I Guess I'm Eating My Words
I don't believe it! NOW members were actually offended by the violence against men in the ads. I think hell just froze over. Or maybe it's all a fasade. Nonetheless, I was surprised to see these comments:
Kathy from Ohio remarked on "all the violence done to men-clamps on nipples, plowing into a pole with legs apart, being sucked into a jet engineā¦ouch!"
Though I think the Pepsi commercial should have been one of the most offensive ones since it endorses sexual violence against men. So, perhaps since this wasn't in their top 5 list, they really don't care about violence against men after all.
I was also surprised that they had this to say about the Political Coke Ad: "Whimsical and enjoyable to watch without anyone getting kicked in the groin," Lisa, Md.
Well, if these statements are genuine, I say Alleluia! Women are starting to get sick of seeing a ton of violence against men too, that is if they're not lying through their teeth (no pun intended).

I saw a superbowl ad for bud light in which a man is bitten in the crotch by a dog. Thankfully it was not allowed to air.

Real Men Don't Take Abuse!
Are you sure Kathy was a NOW member?
One thing to consider, it that since it is oftentimes WOMEN doing violent things to men, like kicking them in the crotch and punching them, that maybe eventually feminists will decide, that they don't like women being "depicted as violent".
Then they'll just have dogs biting crotches..hey wait a minute, then the animal rights activists will complain!!

Well At Least...
Budweiser realized how offensive their ad truly was. I can't say the same for another certain beer company with a misandric ad which I shed light on. (Molson, of course!)
I find it really disturbing when that kind of thing is passed off as comedy. If it happened in real life, surgery could be needed to fix the victim's injury. Thus, how the hell am I supposed to laugh at that? What am I? A sick bastard? Maybe next I'll go to the cancer ward and start pointing fun at all the poor testicular cancer victims. (Sarcastic) You get my point...
The fact that the ad was banned is a really good sign. It was in horrible taste.
BTW, I think they should add Carls Jr. and Pepsi to the ban list at SYG.com . I think between the shirtless slob farting, burping, and stuffing his face, JT getting rammed into the mailbox post crotch first not once, but three times, and the guy in the AMP commercial hooking a car battery up to his nipples, they've earned it big time. Had they aired the Bud Light commercial, I'd suggest Budweiser too, but they were sensible about it, and decided not to release it, so I think they should be excused.

Hilarious!
They completely missed the game because they were focusing on their agenda! Absolutely hilarious. One of the best super bowls in history and they focus on the lack of females in the ads.
I saw only one add for female shampoo and that was one too many. At least we were not subjected to tampon commercials!!

Touche, oregon dad
It seems rather pointless to watch the Superbowl just for the ads, seeing that you can just watch them on the internet instead. Hehehe at least those feminazis had to sit through some football. Something tells me that since they're so anti-male, that was probably torture for them.

I just found out that the Carls Jr. ad I saw on YouTube wasn't real. Someone made it to make fun of all the other Carls Jr. ads. He sent me an email after I commented on how the ad was misandric and racist. Lol. YouTube can trick u like that sometimes.

Real Men Don't Take Abuse!
Damn You, Budweiser!
Some of the other users on YouTube are saying that the Bud Light commercial I was referring to wasn't actually "banned", it was just labelled that way on the site. Some said it actually ran during the superbowl, and is still running. I decided to take action, and send Budweiser this letter to find out for myself:
Hello. I'm writing you because I recently saw an ad for Bud Light on YouTube, which I found to be most offensive. Other users said that this ad aired during the superbowl. The ad,
which is often referred to as "good dog" tries to make light of the sexual mutilation of a man, as a dog bites his crotch (not to mention the owner of the dog instructs him to). I
find this offensive, and misandric, because if this were to happen in real life, surgery could be needed to fix the injury. It's certainly not something that makes me want to laugh, nor buy your product. As well, I would like to add that your commercial implies that people who buy your product are more likely to be the vitims of violence. It's not good business practice to alienate half to all of your potential customers by portraying one of the worst fates they can suffer as comedy. Is this ad still running?

MEN are ridiculed, not just WHITE men.
I feel like I just dropped into a klan rally.
1) Good catch. I rarely spend time here anymore so things like that are bound to happen when you're not really concerned. Anyway problem fixed....move on..
2) You're implying it. The truth is white men have had an edge in this society that few black men enjoy.
3) MEN are ridiculed on television. The reason you don't see as many black men on television getting ridiculed is the same reason you don't see as many black heroes on television. When it comes to men, white males are always pushed to the forefront.
I call this "the black man dies first" syndrome.
Either way this conversation isn't even worth continuing as I have better things to do. Enjoy!
