'From the time that my friend experienced domestic abuse at the hands of his wife back in the mid-80s, I've watched him experience depression - not only from the abuse, but also from the lack of support as he searched for services but found little. Then one day about 10 years ago, he told me about wanting to start a men's safe house for male victims of domestic abuse. Today, the house is a reality, but still needs to open. My friend and his female friend have purchased a house in Calgary Alberta. Now they need help funding it. The challenge is that in a country that supports female victims of domestic abuse through more than $300 million dollars, no dollars are specifically provided to support male victims. Thus the need for your help to pay the home bills, provide food and counseling.... and help my friend provide the support that was denied him through his struggles.'
