LiveScience article on male victims of domestic violence

LiveScience.com, a mainstream popular science news site, has published an online report entitled Men: Hidden Victims of Domestic Violence. This indicates increasing acceptance of scientific findings on domestic violence which run counter to domestic violence stereotypes. Such stereotypes portray men as the exclusive unprovoked perpetrators of domestic violence, and portray women as victims or else justify female violence against men as self defense in every case where it occurs.

Studies have shown that women assault men about as often as men assault women. While men tend to cause more damage because on average they are stronger, not all men are bigger than their partners, and women can even the odds with weapons such as knives, high heels, and sharp nails.
Men may also fear that if they fight back in self-defense, they themselves will be accused of abuse because of society's assumption that men are always the aggressor.

I went to Sen. Joe Biden's Congressional home page to send him a link to this article, only to discover that he's spinning yet another misandrist VAWA-like campaign cleverly titled - “National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week," February 4 – 8, 2008. (Hillary is a co-sponsor, of course.)

•30% of teens in a dating relationship have been text-messaged 10, 20, or 30 times an hour by a partner finding out where they are, what they are doing or who they are with.
•One in five teens in a serious relationship report having been hit, slapped or pushed by a partner.
•One in four girls in a relationship report having been pressured to go further sexually than they really wanted."
Note the usual lying by omission that erases all violence against boys, who are once again defined as the perpetrators...

Women: The Protected Perpetrators of Domestic Violence
It's a pet peeve of mine that even when a tiny little crack of daylight appears in the mass media coverage of domestic violence, the headlines intentionally focus attention away from the real issue.
I'll agreee to accept that "men are hidden victims." Good enough, but not enough.
The logical follow-on is that "WOMEN ARE THE PROTECTED PERPETRATORS OF DV!"
Language always reveals, and obscures.
Another story is always there to be gleaned, only it hit the editorial cutting room floor because it was not P.C.
Before MRAs can reform bad feminist laws, we will have to reclaim the English language and the capacity for fairness and logic that feminists have so successfully hijacked.
