Rwanda: Government Readies for Mass Male Circumcision

Yes indeed. Any reason for cutting a piece of a man's cock off. How the hell did such an insane practice arise anyway? Don't tell me "God said so". This disgusting tradition was around well before monotheistic religions had it.

The ancient Egyptians did it long before anyone else, and it seems it has been around for as long as can be traced (see http://www.cirp.org/library/history/), [People who insist that the anti-circ position is anti-Semitic should take note that 1) Moses wasn't circumcised and that didn't seem to bother anyone and 2) there exist today groups of recognized Jews that are uncircumcised (see http://www.jewishcircumcision.org/). So please, spare me the accusations of anti- Semitism.]

One thing I just wonder where and why they got the whole sick idea from.

It's from such "traditions" that circumcision was propagated, it seems. Bizarre.

All I can think is that the original idea is the product of some very powerful but insane person's pronouncement that it had to be done, possibly because the voices in his head told him so.

SkinMedica is the beauty product company that Oprah Winfrey promotes which uses foreskin in their products. I wonder if this company, and others like them, are behind some of these mass mutilation orgies.

Every organized religion is about self-degradation. That is where the power lies. Get people to feel bad, powerless, incomplete, tainted, "sinful."

The faith may start with circumcision or female genital mutilation, but once you've accepted these practices as sane and normal, it's not much of a stretch to see yourself as an object to be manipulated by "higher powers."

As John Talbot's study pointed out, there won't be much of an effect, because the number of commercial sex workers is the statistically significant factor, not whether a man has 25% of the total length of his penis removed. The only statistically significant effect of the mass circumcision will be shorter, thinner, calloused penises.

Why is the foreskin's value going to the hospital that casually assigns a doctor to cut it off and bill the parents $550 for the "operation?," and then sells the tissue for profit?
