Mother Prostitutes Disabled 12-Year-Old Daughter for Crack, Won't Face Serious Charges

Story here. From the article:

'Six men, ranging in age from 19 to 55, have been charged with several sexual assault-related charges. The 42-year-old mother was arrested earlier this week and charged with the rarely prosecuted offence of "corrupting children."'

'The Criminal Code offence of corrupting children makes it illegal to engage in adultery, sexual immorality, habitual drunkenness or "any other sort of vice," in the home of a child.'

And the fact that she sold her disabled daughter into prostitution to feed a drug habit? Where are the charges for those despicable crimes? Would a man escape those charges under the same circumstances?

As usual, the mother is facing very little jail time even if she's convicted. While she could have faced 14 years if convicted of living on the proceeds of prostitution or being involved in child prostitution she wasn't charged with those offenses despite selling her disabled daughter into sex to obtain drugs.

Naturally all of the men involved are facing the full weight of the law. Notice also that all of the men are identified by name, but the mother remains anonymous.

I mean this is Canada we're talking about, and in Canada women do not go to jail. In the whole country of 32 million people (and I think Canada is 52 or 53% female, slightly higher then the Global average) there are only about 1000 federally incarcerated women.

I mean, she's a crack addict. That's an excuse when the offender is female.

She's a mother. Even though she was probably responsible for her daughters developmental disabilities and she's absolutely responsible for pimping her out, that still counts as an excuse here. Hell, they'll probably spare her jail time so she can 'care for' her daughter.

She's probably a minority as the area of the arrest is a predominantly black and becoming Arab community. I'm not trying to be racist, or that all crack heads are black or anything like that. Just stating a fact for those who may not be familiar with Toronto. That area is what would be called in the USA a ghetto though. But, if she is a minority, that's another excuse that will work for her.

Very tragic situation. Mommy should not have custody of that girl or any contact with her at all and she should have to face some severe consequences. But all the things above will insure she doesn't face any consequences at all really. I also with near certainty would say that she will not have to register as a sex offender. Yes, Ontario has a registry and there is also a National registry in Canada for those unfamiliar with Canadian law.
