The prospect of all-female conception

Story here. EXCERPT: Creating sperm from women would mean they would only be able to produce daughters because the Y chromosome of male sperm would still be needed to produce sons. The latest research brings the prospect of female-only conception a step closer. "We're very excited about this discovery, particularly as our earlier work in mice suggests that we could develop this work even further," Professor Nayernia said.

NEXT, REDUCE THE MALE POPULATION TO THE MAGIC 10% NUMBER RAD-FEMS ARE LOOKING FOR AND WE'LL HAVE THE PERFECT WORLD.... FOR ME TO POOP ON!

The 10% figure was before the medical technology had advanced to put this in sight as a real prospect. Now, it is in sight. However they will have a lot of issues to overcome-- the mechanism of conception is far from fully understood, and there are countless chemicals and chemical processes in human biology and reproduction that are only just being truly studied. Researchers in this and related fields are like children playing with the broken up components of electronic goods, all mixed together from different types of equipment, seeing if they can stick the pieces together and get something "cool" to happen. "Hit and miss" is not a strong enough phrase to describe this kind of work.

That said, the relevance this kind of news story has on MRAs fits squarely into the "misandry" category. Imagine if you will if this kind of technology were being pursued (assuming it even could be) with the prospect of man-man conception producing only sons. Even if it were possible, which I doubt it is any time before the year 5000, would anyone allow such research to happen? Would the prospect of it not cause convulsions of repulsion through the media and phem-wit establishment? Answer: Yes.

There could be some irony, since it's been shown girls who grow up without father are MORE likely to seek out, I guess we'll call it "frequent male companionship". I doubt this would exist long term.

Figure out a way to convert said cells to ova, and...

on one planet you could have the Amazon women of Sapphos, and
the other, you could have a literal interpretation of the satirical
film "Gayn*****s from Outer Space".

If it were being done to allow two males to reproduce through the use of an artificial womb, it would not be limited to 'only sons' as it is the male gamete that determines gender. Men can produce either sons or daughters, women can only produce daughters.

Men have everything women have and then some biologically. A woman born with only one X chromosome (a not uncommon genetic defect known as turner's Syndrome) is still biologically a woman though infertile (though modern medicine has made advances in this area). All men have one X chromosome, women have no Y. Genetically it is not men who are lacking anything. We can produce any offspring and we were given the gift of the additional chromosome necessary for survival of the species.

If THE CLEFT (Doris Lessing, 2007) draws it's inspiration from the idea that "the primal human stock was probably female, and that males came along later, as a kind of cosmic afterthought" it is a flawed is premise. Not only have two 'sex' organisms existed from the very start.

Some cells consume other cells and absorb their genetic material while others use photosynthesis or rely on thermal energy. One type became the plant life we see all around us, the other became the animal life. All animals from the very dawn of existence have relied on the ability to diversify their genes through mixing with others for survival. Sex wasn't an accident, it was the plan all along. Without it life would not be able to adapt. Even plants evolved techniques to mix their genetics with other plants through flowers and pollination.

Single sex on a changing planet is a genetic dead end, and only men are made out of both and have the ability to produce either. Men truly are the key to the survival of the species. If all women were wiped off the Earth tomorrow (with todays technology) through some devastating event, men would rapidly perfect the techniques required to bring a fetus to term artificially and create more females saving humanity forever. If the reverse happened - all men wiped out - the species may continue for a few generations with techniques like the ones discussed in the article, but it would not last indefinitely. Women can only recreate themselves, men can create either.

I said much of the same when debating a feminist on this very subject. The myth of men coming from women is an absurd one being that as both you and I have said probably many times WOMEN CANNOT CREATE MEN!
