Story here.
This female teacher abuse will never stop until they are held accountable for sexual abuse. For some reason this is not perceived as a legitmate sexual crime. If this double standard continues, female teachers will still prey on boys and girls. Excerpt:
"Investigators said Jamie Lynn Armstrong, 23, was a teacher at Tara High School, where she met the 16-year-old female student.
Police said the alleged relationship was uncovered after the girl's father said he found his daughter's journal about a month a go.
The journal held details about the alleged relationship between the student and Armstrong."

Age of consent?
Is the age of consent in her State 17 or something? I don't get:
a) how a teacher could mistake the age of one of her students as she should know it and if she doesn't could very easily look it up.
b) Why she would think one year makes a lick of difference other then perhaps age of consent.
Even so, if she thought age of consent was her problem she was completely mistaken as I am reasonable certain it had very little to do with the reason she was charged. She was charged because she is the girls TEACHER - position of trust and authority - and should not be having sex with her students. Male university professors lose their jobs for having sex with students who are legally adults. It's the job title that was her problem not the age of the girl.
A 16 and 23 year old having sex where the 23 year old is not the 16 year olds, teach, counselor, boss etc. I don't see a problem with and I don't think should be illegal at all. It happens all the time without any ill repercussions for either party involved.
Perhaps miss teacher needed to stay in school longer if she doesn't get the concept that you shouldn't have sex with your students under any circumstances.
I am sure if convicted she will be granted special exemption from the sex offender registry though as everyone who knows her will say she is not dangerous to anyone.
Though about 95% of the men on the sex offender registry are not dangerous to anyone either they don't get special exemption to the law.
