MSN slideshow "Women who make us cringe"

This is an interesting insight into what MSN's writers classify as a woman who should make us cringe. I think we can agree with a lot of them, I'm just not sure how they narrowed it down to 10 from such a large field.

I agree, the value in this is not so much in the women portrayed and described but more in what the MSM (which I count MSN as part of) is doing with these particular individuals in terms of evaluating them-- and how much each evaluation seems in conflict with the previous one! They are done condemning a woman for advocating one thing, then condemn the next for advocating or representing the opposite!

Batty. We knew MSN was run by misandrists. We knew they were run by deconstructionists. But now we know they are just plain batty.

I think what MSN is saying should make someone cringe is anyone who stands out from the herd in any way. But if that were the case for everyone, what would they have to write about?

> Bratz: For heaven’s sake, girls don’t need
> dolls that look like streetwalkers.

Why not? They have a passion for fashion and shopping, and they're not anorexic.

So where was Joan Rivers? Star Jones? Or Hillary?

The article is almost completely worthless. Excerpt:
" In her TV series The Simple Life, [Paris Hilton], along with gal-pal Nicole Richie, did their best to perpetuate the stereotype of a rich, dumb blond girl who mercilessly mocks others. Hilton further cultivates this portrait of herself through comments like, “Wal-Mart—like, do they make walls there"

When HAVEN'T there been ridiculous celebrities, with teens following them? Hilton's in it for the money, what's the fucking problem. Why is the idiot writer trying to politicize it?

The writer sounds like he is an honorary woman. He is complaining that basically feminists have been undercut..oh woe is us..
Feminists NEED to be undercut. The writer can suck my dick, he is a typical loser journalist (and besides I need a blow job right about now, as I can't afford a woman of ill repute - pricers are higher here in California where I just moved to(sic)).

Phyllis Schlafly, who has jumped on the mens' rights bandwagon, with a vengence and Ann Coulter, who roasts feminazis like a chef roasts a cut of meat, made the list as did some other (lesser-known) anti-feminists.
Notice that Katherine McKinnon did not as she was probably most responsible for poisioning the male-female relations.
This list is certainly revealing.

Care to explain in what way exactly is Paris Hilton in any way unique other then being born insanely rich?

What skills does she possess? Ability to party and seek a world record for most impaired driving convictions without incarceration or loss of driving privileges?

I'd love to hear how you consider her great.

It is revealing that all ten of these reviled-by-feminist-woman-faux-journalist represent un-politically correct versions of female liberation.

* Paris, the raunch culture celebrity porn princess.
* Hirschman, the anti-feminist intellectual who dares to call women stupid.
* Lohan, a truly liberated role model for the Prozac nation of Go Girrrllllzzz.
* Coulter, a free speech seductress in a slinky cocktail dress.
* Spears, an aspiring supermom with a real career.
* Schlafly, perhaps the best MRA in panties who hasn’t had a facelift.
* Morgan, a wife who knows how to get laid by her husband and love it.
* Flanagan, a housewife with the audacity to make money by writing against feminism.
* Jeffreys, an honest and fuggly feminist who tells the truth about the beauty myth.
* Bratz Dolls, an accurate portrayal of modern American women. Big heads, little sense.

The authroress of this piece is doing a great service for MRAs!

In light of Roy's post below, maybe there was more to the article than I thought. Maybe it contained some truth. Maybe there was even something to be learned from it. Maybe I should have read more than just the first two paragraphs..remind me to start reading entire articles before I comment on them!!

P.S: Sorry, I'm still not going to read it..Roy's post gives me enough info!

I simply find her interesting. Yes, she has the brain power of a 9 volt battery but I wouldn't through her out of bed.

P.S. any crediability I had on this site has been destroyed!!!

Its difficult to explain. Calling her "great" was definately over board. I said "great" soley based on the insane things she does. I look at this way, she is the polar opposite of a radical feminist. Stupid...yes and no. Let me explain. She has probably never read a book, has the math skills of a 4th grader, and doesn't know how to operate a calculator. But I'll give her this, she is media savy. She has continued to get tremendous exposure, even though she's an idiot and uses bizzare behavior. Somehow it works. Is her behavior based on utter stupidity or a calculated way to manipulate the media. I would say a little of both.

I cannot believe I'm defending Paris Hilton!!!

We'll discuss Britany some other time!

That might be being generous. 4th graders know their multiplication tables (at least they did back when I was one. Today they may only know of multiplications tables)

Perhaps she should go on that new spin on Millionaire "Are you smarter then a 5th grader?". I doubt that show will last long enough to do a celebrity special but still, it'd be interesting to see.

The thing about media savvy is - it's not a skill. It is world class narcissism - it's a disorder. The only reason Paris (and every other celebrity considered 'media savvy') gets so much media attention is because she seeks it like a crack head seeks their next hit. It requires not higher brain function at all, just instinct like an infant crying when it's hungry.

The smarts come from an army of spin doctors who manipulate the media for her. She's a multi-billionaire - she does what she wants and when she screws up some one fixes it for her.

You or I would look pretty good to if we could afford a 24/7 team of handlers and agents to tell everyone exactly how to interpret our every action.

She must like Bentley though, she probably wrecks enough of 'em to single handedly keep the company in business. Since Bentleys must be shipped back to the factory for repairs, you can't just get them fixed at your local autobody, she must really like the company to keep wrecking their cars - or at least I am sure they like her.

So umm, axo, if you are so sexually needy and desperate for release, why would you choose to move to the state of Californikashun, perhaps best known for its surplus population of rich, dumb blond girls with plastic tits who mercilessly mock others?

If you were seeking this profound escalation of self-abuse, you could have just moved to New Jersey, where the best beaches are still public, and real boobs can still be occasionally sighted.

I just wanted to live out here for a couple years, to drive around and see the scenery. You have to admit, California is number one in that department; and it's not a sauna every fucking day in the summer.

Eventually I will buy a house in Charleston South Carolina (where they're still affordable) and settle there. At least in the "real South", women still kind of know their place..sort of...I think..
