Wendy McElroy: "Continuing to Defame the 'Duke 3' as Rapists"

Article here. Excerpt:

"A paradigm of victimhood, especially of women who allege rape, is on the line. The core of the paradigm is the assumption that women do not lie about crimes like rape.

The widely used and accepted statistic on false accusations of rape is that about two percent of charges are false. However, legal scholar Michelle Anderson of Villanova University Law School reported in 2004 that "no study has ever been published which sets forth an evidentiary basis for the two percent false rape complaint thesis."

Back around last Fall, Tucker Carlson had a somewhat-nutty female attorney (or someone of that ilk, perhaps she was a legal commentator) on his show. She said (quoting from memory), "This case will set women back one hundred years" if it is found that the stripper was not raped.

Let us pause to consider the stupendous non-logic, as well as self-incrimination, of that statement.

First of all, it is as if she is hoping that the woman was raped, more than whether we find out the truth.. but I guess that is a non-issue to an unethical slob. The main thing is that her statement is essentially an admission, that feminists have in fact hoodwinked us for decades on the supposed non-existence of false rape accusations. It is as if she is saying, "well, if the stripper wasn't raped, it will poke a hole in the non-existence theory, and thus reverse the effectiveness of 100 years of lying and propaganda..oops, I didn't say that did I??" .

To his credit, part of Carlson's response was, "..maybe some people NEED to be set back!", i.e. if they do think that women never lie about rape, or if they are involved in spreading such false information.
