Woman who had husband killed sentenced to life in prison

Story here. Excerpt:

"Cleland's attorney, Ed Murphy, asked that his client be allowed to serve her sentence in a psychiatric facility. The judge promised to file the request, but declined to recommend a specific location for her incarceration.
...
'It's crystal clear the only thing defendant Cleland ever wanted from Bruce was his money,' Deputy District Craig Hum told jurors during closing arguments in her trial last year.
...
Rebecca Cleland planned to have her husband murdered "to avoid being left with nothing if Bruce divorces her," he said."

From article:

She has been in custody since Feb. 18, 1998.

I like that! One would suppose being female and thus an automatic member of the gender aristocracy that she would have been out on some technicality.
And life WITHOUT possibility of parole is great too. All of those 8 plus years in jail before being convicted were dead time and not countable toward parole as time served. Now if some damn governor in the next couple of years doesn't give all the husband killers in prison blanket clemency then this black widow will be behind bars for life.

She deserves the sentence she got for acting in such a heartless and cruel fashion. I kind of feel sorry for the cousin who was the getaway driver who also got life as he's probably the least culpable of the three. The shooter deserves life for taking such a reprehensible action as shooting a man three times in the fact and once in the chest. She deserves it for coming up with the whole plan in the first place and inciting her cousins to act. But the driver maybe deserves parole one day because he neither killed anyone or planned the murder.

So nice to see a female held accountable for her deeds for a change though. I hope this trend continues.

Men also have to realize that assisting a woman in carrying out a crime will lead to harsh penalties. I'm not supporting giving equal punishment to the male accomplice as the female criminal, but this sense of chivalry, that "whatever the woman does is right so I must assist this morally superior being" has to go.

Just no life without parole is all I was getting at in reference to the getaway driver.

The other two deserve their life sentences as a result of their actions, the cousin who was the driver - granted he may have helped plan and he certainly knew the details and failed to act - does not deserve to share their fiat. He chose the least reprehensible path in the whole disgusting plan.

Maybe life, with parole eligibility set at 10 or 20 years for him in my book. He displayed at least a tiny thread of humanity by not taking part in the actual slaying. Just my opinion 'cause I'm all for a second chance if it is warranted.

No one seems to have picked up on the fact that they are hoping for a psychiatric facility rather than jail. I have to wonder if all women aren't simply psychopaths in waiting considering how many of them go for the "treatment defense."

....we are simply optimistic that she will receive the prison cell she deserves. The judge did not endorse the idea so I think he may be more inclined to send her to prison (if he can find one to house her as there is a drastic shortage of women's facilities)
