Florida School Experiments With Single-sex Classes

Notice in this article, that the woman reporter favors girls over boys in her listing of 5 strengths of each sex in the classroom (near bottom of article). Overall though, it seems to be positive news for boys, at least for now. But it is briefly mentioned that the improvements noticed, may be due to factors other than single-sexness, such as improved teacher motivation for the experiment.

Article is defeinitely anti-boy
Well single-sex ed may be good for some kids, but I feel it creates more problems later. The world, despite what feminist-separatists are working toward, is not single-sex, nor does western society at large condone such a thing. Letting kids go through school in single-sex environments is setting them up for real problems later in the workplace.
In any case this article is definitely touting single-sex classrooms as being better for girls and that's the main reason. Note the comment:
'And while her students seem relieved to be in a class free of "boy interruptions," Baird said she is careful to steer clear of the "We don't like boys" attitude, realizing that at some point the girls will return to a co-ed environment.'
Yeah, right.
Not So Fast, My Friend
This is progress. Note that the boys are doing better. THAT is the reason this project was launched. It is in response to the observations that boys haven't been doing as well since the schools were feminised in the early 90s to improve the alleged loss of self esteem in little girls that feminists were shouting about. This feminisation program (which is totally in evidence today) completely restructured the message in the class room to (you guessed it) girls are good and boys are bad.
I visited my kids elementary school just last week. All over the bulletin boards in the common areas are programs for girls - girls science programs, girls sports programs, on and on and on...it appears to be ALL FOCUSED ON THE GIRLS SUCCESS!!! NOTHING!!! ABOUT BOYS PROGRAMS!!!!
What is the message here???
Remember - the model for "good behavior" in class rooms these days is based on a little girl model. This totally disadvantages the boys, particularly when >90% of all elementary teachers are already female. Some schools are even cutting back on recess periods - which is proven to help boys blow off energy and stay focused.
The fact that reading scores have improved for the boys in an all male environment is proof that they are making progress. Lets just hope they have male instructors for these all boys classes.
While you state that they are headed for trouble, just remember, many countries around the world have single sex classrooms.
The fact that the world has become feminised is still a fact - And no matter what, there is going to be friction. We may as well provide the best education and opportunities possible for the young boys, who as we know, are going to have a rough road ahead no matter what.

Whatever the motivation, this is a Good Thing on balance IMO and we could probably use much more of it. Feminist types certainly can't have much reason to complain, because of the female dominated power structure which is doing the engineering of it. Of course it would be nice if their was more male input and oversight, especially from the older generation of men who actually went to all-male schools before they were 'outlawed' some 30-40 years ago.
