For years feminists and the government have solely focused on careers where women are not "properly" represented. Rarely, if ever, do you see an initiative promoting the value of men in desired professions. Nursing is no joke, an RN in a major metropolitan area can earn upwards of $80,000 per year.

"We hope that by showcasing some of New Jersey's very own men in nursing, their scope of practice settings and their personal and professional interests, that other men will be interested in nursing as a career," Debra Harwell, the institutes's director, told The Philadelphia Inquirer for Saturday's newspapers."

... I see that this calendar doesn't include "beefcake shots" but sticks with pictures and text that reflect the work roles of the men therein. Also, I assume the scholarships referred to in the story are for male nursing students-- or are they for anyone in "financial need"?

Let's face it, there are both sexist discriminatory reasons and economic and biological ones that still segregate certain occupations by gender.

Male nurses get the same cold shoulder treatment as do male elementary school teachers and male child care providers.

They are always just one false accusation away from the end of their careers.

Men, being logical creatures, increasingly aware that they inhabit a feminist Gulag, do not seek such kamakazi career paths.

Women also have their reasons for not applying for high-paying jobs as miners, steel foundry technicians, marine welders, sewer maintenance engineers, etc. etc.

Women's reasons have nothing to do with discrimination.

They can make more money doing meaningless fluff clerical jobs in a nice safe air-conditioned office where they can excrete too much perfume and wear push-up bras instead of protective gear, helmets, and air respirators.

Why would any woman, even if she had the physical stamina (90% do not...) choose a DANGEROUS job?

BTW ... 75% of the female nurses I have encountered (thankfully very rarely) are overweight, smoking, divorced, unhealthy, ugly cows.

There's a reason why they wear loose hanging scrubs that look like a circus tent draped over a bloated semi-mobile cadaver.

It's not worth $80k to have to work with these death-worshipping specimens.

A male nurse is like a man trying to get a cordial hosting seat on "The View."

Too painful; not worth the brain damage.
