Prisons for women now have nurseries...

Story here.
That's right folks, the madness never stops. In the never ending race to please women the State of Ohio has gone created living quarters for the babies of female convicts, on prison grounds. Think about this: We are now not only allowing female convicts to maintain contact with thier children, we are actually willing to put children in prison in order to accomplish this. Of course, the taxpayers, who are mostly male will have no say in this matter. So let me ask you: Would a male convicted felon be allowed to imprison his children just so he could selfishly maintain a "relationship" with them? Is that a question that is even allowed?

Compassionate Conservatism At Its Finest!
Read the piece and consider the conditions that this mother and her toddler child have been relegated to...
Meanwhile, the disaster in Iraq is costing a billion dollars a day.
It is becoming increasingly clear where America's values have gone.
There's violent slaughter abroad, and quiet slaughter at home.
When you look forward 100 years, do you believe this country will exist in any recognizable way?
Why?
Why not?
So much for deciding in the
So much for deciding in the best interests of the child.
Only the best interests of the mother matter these days
title says it all.
I agree about Iraq but....
... I am not sure that it is necisarily bad prioraties of the government that relegated this drug addict where she is. As a matter of fact, I agree with the OPs opinion that because of her gender this woman has been given far more then a man in the same situation would recieve.
Think about it, how many guys in prison get that kind of treatment or a $50/month appartment when they get out? Sure, you may not want to live in that kind of place but the point it is that it is something as opposed to the streets that male drug dealers are released back into.
They gave this woman thousands in free counceling and rehab and virtually free housing. If she can't turn her act around its her own fault. Men don't get any of that and are still expected to lead a decent life when they get out. And what did the men in prison learn? To be better fathers for their kids and how to stay clean? Naw, men aren't worthy of that, they just get other inmates teaching them how to be better criminals.
I do agree that our social prioraties are pretty messed up and we should be doing a heck of alot more to help people out and keep them from getting into trouble in the first place, and I think a good start would be investing in similar programs for men in prison to teach them how to live better when they get out and then providing them with choices and subsidized housing so that they can get a break and have a shot at a decent life.
We all know that our society will do anything to rehabilitate and help women who are completely undeserving, but isn't it about time that we stopped blaming everything on men and started giving them a hand to turn things around aswell?
