ASU Students Found "Caucasian Men's Club"
Looks like college students are finally beginning to do something to show their disaffection with the many ethno-genderal interest clubs that openly proclaim their proud affiliation with any group of people except whites, men, or both. Clip on CNN.com is here (embedded video). To note is that membership isn't restricted to white men only, in the same way other college campus groups can't restrict membership based on gender or ethnicity. My only reservation about it is the ethnic issue, since men's issues are men's issues first and foremost But I suppose including it may be unavoidable in terms of making a statement, in that there are generalized men's groups already on college campuses but these are usually affiliated with feminist goals, groups, or their inclinations.
In any case, these people are making a strong statement around the idea of "equal time and consideration" that college administrators at ASU and on other campuses should hearken to.

"The non-sexist, non-racist, non-anti-Semitic, non-homophobic,
...association of non-elite white men"

Here we now see that PCism and feminism have only served to further segregate race and gender and as we saw with the duke rape case feminism and PCism's agendas are what is fueling the fires of racism/sexism today, any crime involving white male/ black victim is labeled a race crime or hate crime, the oh so caring libral media makes money sensationalizing their hot topic of race, white men are further stereotyped.
I feel this club (and the ones to follow) are only the natural result of the feminist and PC movements accomplishments of bettering and empowering every group but common white males, infact going so far as to prejudge and demonize common white males, the very concept of white male privilege has always been absurd to me, as I worked and went to school and made more or less money than women and other races around me, experiencing racism and sexism coming from every race and both genders.
ASU is a Beacon of Multicultural Diversity
Last year Arizona State U. made the national news for offering sections of an English writing class restricted to Native Americans.
The professor called the restricted sections the "Rainbow" sections.
ASU was advised by FIRE, (Foundation For Individual Rights in Education) an organization that monitors campus free speech and civil rights compliance, that these racially segregated classes violated the U.S. Constitution and ASU's own policies.
The prof was told he could not restrict enrollment based on ethnicity.
If you have not yet visited FIRE's website at http://www.thefire.org/, it's worth a few minutes of your time, especially if you are interested in what's going on at our college and university campuses.
ASU's student newspaper is covering the controversy over the Caucasian American Men of ASU, or CAMASU. Reporter Meghan Keck wrote on 10/3/06 about feminist resistance --
"The group is sending a negative message to the campus, Feminist Organization member Cali Kahlman said.
"The group sounds like it consists of white men who cannot comprehend how ... much easier they have it than the majority of society," Kahlman said. "They are aggravated because people are 'taking away' their rights, which is complete nonsense."
Just a few minutes of research on ASU's Student Organizations website will illustrate ASU's commitment to a balanced and fair profile of ethnic and gender diversity:

As of today Caucasian American Men of ASU, or CAMASU is still not listed, because next month they have to petition the university to become an "official" student organization.
"the oh so caring libral media"???
What does "liberal" have to do with it? I'm a liberal and I'm part of this movement. You "Bushies" get all upset when conservatives are generalized as "sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic" etc.. You wanna argue Conservative/liberal call talk radio. This is a place for men's activism. This goes for all you "conservatives" who complain about "liberals" on this site. I don't post here about you all being pawns of the christian church (sorry, had to get that out). I post about men's issues.
I consider myself more
I consider myself more liberal, I am Canadian and I don’t like bush one bit, in fact people that use the men’s movement to push for troop enlistment or to promote trad families while putting down gay couples aggravate me to no end, but I am not blind to the liberal medias corruption, for it IS the liberal media that often makes race issued out of nothing, sensationalizes the whole issue of race, creating racial tension, stereotyping white males, it is the liberal media that is controlled by the lace curtain, did not the editor of the nyt admit pissing off white men was indicative of his papers social progress?
“One of the tacit rules of the New Gender Order is that the opinions of men don't count. "If white men were not complaining, it would be an indication we weren't succeeding and making the inroads that we are" was the remarkable admission once made by the most influential media mogul in the country, Arthur Sulzberger, Jr, owner and publisher of the New York Times.”

I worry about the MM being divided down party lines this will stagnate it. I am liberal but when liberals or conservatives stand in the way of men’s progress I am against either of them.
I do feel more segregation and racial tension was created by feminism and Pcism, and in regards to white males these two movements created a whole list of double standards intolerances and prejudice against white men that we are not allowed to talk about, wouldn’t be PC. I see how on campus the groups are divided down lines of race and gender and it excludes white men, I don’t think more segregation is the answer but it is only natural in the current campus environment for white men to want their own community to keep up with the joneses.
I get frustrated with the lace curtain and our societies twisted perceptions of the concepts of consideration and tolerance, I have nothing against your average lib or con.
Whites only.. not good.
It's a pity they didn't just make an organization for men. By only supporting whites, they will attract racists and right wing wackos.
Also I think it's just not right. Men's rights are a matter of all men. And black men are especially in danger of being victims of false accusations, jailed for not being able to pay spouse support, etc. Why shouldn't they be part of it?
That list above doesn't have a single men's organization in it. They should try to change that, instead of concentrating on skin color. I agree with the original poster that men's issues should be first.
I Support the Group
Why not?
As you can see from one of the other posters, every other group is represented. There is nothing wrong with having a group like this and they even state that they welcome "outsiders" (i.e. women and people with different shades of skin).
oregon dad
I'm lucky, I fall under a "non-privaleged" group.
But I refuse to call the "straight man" opressors. Yep. It's so much better being a Privileged white male who is slightly overweight, than a protected white fag.
