Indian cabinet proposes women-only judges for rape cases

So here it is(alternate link here). Only women are qualified to hear rape cases. So the assumption here is that somebody's biology, thier vagina in this case -- makes them better qualified at deciding on cases with impartial justice.

"This is a very positive step and will help get justice for the rape victim," said Girija Vyas of India's National Womens' Commission. "Until now, male lawyers were able to threaten the victim and scare her." The government has already introduced new fast-track courts to try to clear the backlog of rape and other serious cases.

By no means do I believe that rape is something that should be taken lightly, but coming from someone who has been falsely accused of it here in the good old USA, does anyone smell the potential for abuse by the ever-increasing number of feminist lawyers and judges that call all intercourse rape?

India is certainly on the fast track to becomming a feminist state.

How can anyone recieve fair justice when one group and only one group has absolute dominion over an area of the law.

I to was falsely accused. It wasn't a case of a one night stand that she later regretted either. I had never so much as touched my accuser. I was accused of being a participant in a group rape at a house party I never attended and after the trial do not believe ever occured. I had never been to the town she said this took place in.

False accusations occur far to easily. Trust me, I know first hand.

Gender should play no part in legal proceedings one way or another. Evidence should be all that matters. Is there something to it or not. No more "women don't lie" so we must believe everything a woman says as if it were gospil.

Even in cases where the woman is not blatantly lying there are thousand of cases where she is "honestly mistaken" and believes something which is not the truth. Women's intuition plays a big part in that one. I just feel that I was violated even though I don't really know how, or where, or when, or by who.

Hell, I went on a date once with a woman who claimed to have been raped by a ghost. She claimed to be strongly in touch with the spiritual world and evil spirits attacked and raped her. Needless to say that was one date and one date only and I cut off all contact with that girl.

Put the blindfold back on justice and let everyone have a fair chance to make their case. No more justice is blind if a man is accused but not if a woman is accused or is the accusser.

Fairness for ALL should be the goal. Not fairness for women.
