Prison Guard Indicted in Candy-for-Sex (ie, Rape) Case

Suppose she'll see any jail time for this little caper? Probably not. Excerpt:

"SEATTLE -- A King County Jail guard accused of having sex with two juvenile inmates pleaded not guilty to four charges of custodial sexual misconduct at her arraignment Tuesday, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Lydia Korolak, 34, is accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with two boys half her age that were under her guard at the King County Juvenile Detention Center in 2001 and 2002."

This case reminded me of this similar one that occurred where I live (Anchorage, Alaska). I distinctly remembered it because I printed the article and brought it to my Men and Masculinity class that I took in my final semester of college to illustrate that women are capable of assaulting juveniles in their care and custody. What impressed me is how the whole story seemed to have vanished. Perhaps I’m being paranoid; however, when I searched the internet for it, I kept coming up blank until I found a link to the newspaper article in someone’s blog. Is this a conscious effort to keep the story under wraps or is it just that when the perpetrator is a female, there is far less interest and/or follow up? Just in case you're wondering, Anchorage’s population: 260,283 (2000 Census). Estimated population in July 2005: 275,043

hello

i really believe eventually the court system and society will become disgusted with these women. their jail sentences will become indictive of the crime. maybe i'm just being naive.

women now comprise the highest growing rate of convicted criminals. more jails are being built to house these low lifes.

so much for the "gentler sex".

i believe of all inequities facing men, the courts system leniency for female crimminals disgusts me the worse. society need protection from female criminals. 6 months of probation is a joke.

keep in mind the woman hasn't been convicted yet, but we all know its doubtful
she'll do any jail time.

The courts will learn when we the people stop seeing little boys as problems and nothing more then short woman beaters and rapists and start to DEMAND change in the justice system. Don't believe society sees boys as nothing more then shorter then average wonam beaters and rapists? Read the "Adam Walsh Act" AKA "Adam's Law" AKA "Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act". No boy is to young in the eyes of the law anymore to be labelled a monster and held up for public ridicule and torture.

What I do not understand is why we let women guard men/boys in custody in the first place. Men are not allowed to guard women in Canada and most states.

So why do we think that women should guard men?

We all know that women LOVE criminals. There is no no male serial killer anywhere on death row that does not recieve hundreds of letters and photo's and even visits from horney women who want to live on the wild side.

It only stands to reason that many of these same women would seek professions in the prison sytem so they can be even closer to the objects of their carnal desires. If they happen to prefer young boys to men, they will seek employment in youth facilities. Just as in this case.

I do not understand paid leave though. That only seems to aply to anyone accused of a crime who is in the criminal justice field. I was falsely accused of rape and I did not get paid leave working in the Telecom industry - nor did I get my job back when I was aquitted of all charges. Though I see every day police and prison guards who commit rapes, murders, massive drug deals ect.. who all get fully paid vacations while they are charged and get to keep their jobs once convicted. 1/3 of my local police force HAS CRIMINAL RECORDS THAT THEY OBTAINED WHILE ON THE JOB.

Shouldn't law enforcement be held to a higher standard? Shouldn't they lose their careers like the rest of us when they cros the line?

One thing I've come to realize about people is that the truth tends to get buried when people don't want to hear it.

I think I am going to start keeping a binder. I am going to print off, cut out, or hand copy (if necessary) articles that I see that I think are a good reminder of what the problem is.

That's essentially what this site is, but legally we are only allowed to create links to content. I'm going to start printing it so that there can be no excuses about it going missing. (maybe I'll just print to PDF to save on material)
