Connecticut cops to walk a mile in red stilettos for domestic violence awareness

Story here. Excerpt:

'Six Connecticut police departments will “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” on April 30 to bring awareness to domestic violence.

Event chairman and Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara joined affiliate News 8’s Stephanie Simoni wearing high heels on their morning show. He plans to walk a mile in red peep-toe stilettos.

MacNamara says even though many women have brought awareness to the domestic, it’s important men also lead the conversation and be responsible role model for young boys.'

Why do so many people think "domestic violence" is synonymous with "violence against women"? Are people really so ignorant as to think that males are never victims? smdh

I have never understood these "walks". Sure it is good to bring awareness about domestic violence but wearing high heels is harmful, specially for those not used to it and walking a long distance on a hard surface. Although the chance of serious foot damage is slight, there is a good chance of very sore feet the next day, and don't we need our police officers to be physically fit including their feet? How does this impact the safety of the community if all of the police officers have sore feet for 2-3 days?

To me, it is ironic to harm someone else physically (which is what making officers walk a mile in high heels is doing) to oppose the physical harm caused by domestic violence.

These heel walks have nothing to do with DV awareness. They are about getting men who have drunk the Kool-Aid to show this fact to the world and to shame them by getting them to walk around in high heels. It's sort of like how some people abuse their pets by making them balance a treat on their noses until they are given permission to eat it. It's a kind of victory lap for feminists, but the lap is actually walked by men being shamed for being male. That is why they are required to X-dress ("Look, I so wish I were a woman I will dress in heels!") Sort of like the '1984' thing where Big Brother gets "traitors" to confess, internalize their guilt (by using torture/psychological techniques), and go willingly to their executions, having been convinced that indeed, they were wrong to resist, and now they are on BB's side and so ashamed of themselves for ever resisting that they willingly go to their executions.

In short, it's a power move/victory celebration/advertisement of the power feminists wield. It has absolutely nothing to do with DV awareness.
