Israel: Men legally harassed by women

Video here. Description: "Israel, women fought long and hard for equal rights and have achieved success, they work, climb the career ladder and serve in the army, just like men. They also have strict laws protecting them from domestic violence and abuse. Many Israeli men though worry that the pendulum has swung too far and that what started as equality, is rapidly turning into all out repression.

The main complaint from Israeli men is the fear that too many women are using accusations of sexual harassment and even attempted rape as an instrument of manipulation and intimidation..."

I used to have more sympathy for women's concerns over sexual assault and domestic violence, but today I see these issues as largely a matter of women seeking greater legal power over men. Women claim to be seeking protection what what they mostly seek is greater power to destroy a man's life. This is unfortunate, because there is a kernel of legitimate concern about rape and violence.

I recently saw again the video in which boys are asked to slap a woman. They all refuse. I wondered at the end what would happen if they asked the girl to slap the boys. Boys are taught not to hit girls, but girls are taught it's okay to slap boys. I wonder if the girl would slap the boys if told to do so.

I recently chanced across a Glenn Sacks' column discussing a 2011 study that concluded the best way for women to being hit by a man is not to hit him first. Makes sense. But it makes no sense to teach women it's okay to hit men then get upset when he hits back. Odds are, he won't hit you at all if you don't hit him first. If a man strikes a man, he assumes the other man will strike back. Women assume a man won't strike back--which sometimes he does.
