Due process for campus sexual assault is not a left/right issue

Article here. Excerpt:

'Sexual assault is a serious issue that should be dealt with seriously. But the proposed solution for this problem on college campuses creates an entirely new problem. It eviscerates due process for accused students in the name of helping accusers.

The fight over campus sexual assault and due process has somehow devolved into a Republican vs. Democrat issue. The most vocal supporters of draconian sexual assault policies are Democrats like Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Claire McCaskill of Missouri. There are several prominent Republicans on a Senate bill to curb sexual assault, but none have made a name for themselves as a proponent.'

Good article.

BTW, awhile back, possibly at different site, I saw a response about rape and due process that I wish I would have copied and saved. It referenced the "innocence project" and how many times accused men who had been convicted and serving time for rape were actually proven to be innocent.

In the post I'm thinking of, the person used actual numbers, and said something to the effect that the crime of rape had more innocents in jail compared to other crimes.

This information would be valuable because so often I hear feminists say that such a small percentage of "rapists" actually go to jail. I would like to counter their argument by saying that rape is a crime with the most wrongful convictions and actually have numbers and citation to back it up.

I hope I come across that post again sometime.

Once upon a time I used the Innocence Project's own site search to see how many of those falsely convicted had "rape" amongst the charges used against them. It was in the 90 percentile range.

Think about how many falsely convicted men actually had sex with their false accusers so in all likelihood no DNA evidence will ever exonerate them.

At the time of my search, there was only one woman listed as cleared by the innocence project.
