Australia: Police Commissioner Admits Only Safe Place For Women Is A Man-Proof Vault

Article here. Excerpt:

'Victoria's chief of homicide has admitted that the only place where women are not vulnerable to acts of violence is inside a man-proof vault. In the wake of another random stabbing, this time in a Melbourne park, he has recommended that each woman be issued a vault by the government.

"We've tried everything to tackle the problem of male violence. Telling women not to go out, telling them not to dress too sexy, telling them to use the buddy system," said the Inspector. "I can't see any other way except telling women to live inside tiny reinforced vaults."

Feminist groups have reacted to the proposal with fatigue. "Well, at least he didn't tell us to scream constantly at the top of our lungs again," said a women's sector spokesperson. "And it's not as bad as the time he told us to piss ourselves. That's really uncomfortable and it only works on bears."'
