Story here. Excerpt:
'A man hitting a woman is wrong and so is knowing it’s going on and doing nothing about it .
This is the message the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence is stressing in their Take The Pledge campaign, where men choose “to be a stand-up guy, not a stand-by guy.”
On Wednesday, a local community group called Men Of Action took the pledge along with donating food to the Haven House Family Shelter.
“I am beyond elated with this,” said Wendy Mahoney, executive director for the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Mahoney was in attendance and was also one of the keynote speakers at the program that was held at Fred’s Barber and Beauty Salon on Drummond Street —where the idea of Men Of Action began.'

Not a bad thing, just it's less than half the equation
Men pledging to take action to stop male DV vs. females is not a bad thing. What's wrong is it's an incomplete attempt at a solution which will permit DV to continue, in essence, unabated.
Feminists have ppl believing DV is all abt men being or threatening violence or use of some kind of coercion or control over women. It leaves out same when it comes to women's such behavior toward men, or use of abusive punishment or abusive behaviors by parents/other adults toward children, abuse of older ppl by supposed caregivers, ppl in housemate situations, siblings, ppl in same-sex romantic or sexual relationships, etc. By refusing willfully to acknowledge these other kinds of DV, it guarantees that male on female DV won't stop. Either all DV as a matter of principle must be addressed, or it'll never go away. (Analogy: insisting that enslaving only one kind or kinds of person, be the distinction ethnic, political, economic, social, etc., but not others, always makes sure that members of the excluded groups will still end up enslaved somehow. Happened in old Rome all the time. Only by categorically accepting that all slavery is illegal did slavery finally get purged from western society, and should one be caught holding someone in slavery, it's a very serious crime. Until that categorical prohibition was accepted under law and in society, anyone was still a potential slave.)
A good start'll be getting women to pledge to never hit a man, and to take action to stop it when she knows another woman is abusing her mate. And also, let's get both sexes to do likewise re child abuse and same-sex relationships. Then we'll have most of it covered.
