Gillibrand drops disputed sex assault statistic
Article here. Excerpt:
'Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped an increasingly disputed sexual assault statistic from her website. ChangeDetection.com shows how Gillibrand’s sexual assault resources web page [http://1.usa.gov/1m2xWoB] no longer includes [http://bit.ly/1C3Fi6M] a sentence citing the National Institute of Health Campus Sexual Assault Study, which concluded that one in five college women will be subject to rape or attempted rape. Gillibrand and others all the way up to President Barack Obama have cited that statistic in their push for colleges to better prevent sexual violence. But critics and media outlets [http://wapo.st/1AvC1JA] have noted the study’s flaws: It included only two large four-year universities and had a low rate of response, with more nuanced findings than lawmakers suggest. — Gillibrand spokesperson Glen Caplin declined to tell Morning Education why the stat was removed. “There are some who attack this statistic to claim that sexual assault on college campuses is not a problem,” he said. “They need to get their head out of the sand. The problem is real and it is pervasive. Without this distraction, their argument has no merit.”'

Satisfying in a way, but don't imagine KG ("Cagey") is done pursuing misandry - not by any means. As her spokesperson says, it's the erroneous figure causing the "distraction" and so must be discarded in the name of the cause -- the cause of propagating the myth that rape on college campuses is, as they say, "real" and "pervasive". They simply realized that use of this lie wasn't working, so they will try to find one that will.
Ideologues never let reality stop them, and the ends always justify the means to them. The ends include but are not limited to eliminating males from college campuses. After that, or so they believe, the rest of the feminist agenda can be pursued with greater ease. But I rather think they are mistaken in that, since un- and under-educated men being abused by the powers that be have a way of overcoming the obstacles put before them -- history is replete with examples (the US revolution has its roots in such conditions), and the scene is rarely pretty. Thomas J. noted that men are inclined to bear injustices only until the point they become unbearable, at which time, they take action. I think feminists' insistence on avoiding studying world history textbooks in favor of women's studies textbooks are missing this rather important point.
Still, they will cause a great deal of damage before they are finally stopped, so it's better to stop them sooner rather than later. Don't for a moment think they're hollering "uncle". This fight won't be over until men are safe to attend college without fear of being denied rights of legal redress, to be presumed innocent in law courts, to have equal parenting rights recognized in court and by society at large, the right to bodily integrity from day 1 of life, freedom from the actual or risk of enslavement into military servitude by via any form of legal coercion/arrest (i.e., the draft), etc.
To paraphrase the Virginia Slims marketers, "We have a long way to go, baby!"
