Whoopi on UVA Rape Story: 'I Don't Like That People Can Just Say Anything and It's Taken as Fact'

Article here. Excerpt:

'Goldberg’s fellow “View” panelists, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez criticized the journalistic aspects and the consequence, which might mean actual rape victims being reluctant to step forward in the future.

Goldberg decried the circumstances of the story because it created a situation that allows for something taken as fact without proof.

“I mean, look, you know, I've gotten a lot of heat from people because I say -- I want as much as you can give me to nail the SOB,” she said. “That's what I want. But I don't like that people can just say anything and it's taken as fact. We owe it to ourselves, to our sisters, to our brothers who are the folks who may be accused to get the facts. Get the facts. Get as much as you can. There's nothing wrong with it. Because if you can get the person off the street who has done this -- baby, let's put him away.'

When you consider the moral courage it takes Goldberg to take the positions she does on The View (the pop culture stay-at-home mother version of a campus feminist forum, at least when they address topics like the UVA rape increase-our-circulation-at-any-cost Rolling Stone report), perhaps we need a Whoopi Goldberg Award to give to someone who shows such traits -- starting with her.

"The Whoopi" is hereby awarded inaugurally and eponymously to the woman herself, Whoopi Goldberg

Sorry ma'am, it comes with no money, no certificate, no scholarship, no ceremony, and no trophy (but does come with a lot of criticism from ppl who think presuming guilt upon an unverified accusation delivered second-hand citing an anonymous accuser is fine when the accusation is of a man raping/assaulting/etc. a woman). After all, one doesn't seem to get these things when taking principled stands against bigotry against men, even if in so doing you're pointing out the obvious: confirm allegations of criminal misconduct at least well enough for journalistic standards before going to press. Standing for that for other groups of ppl, maybe you'll get an actual measurable prezzie for it. But not when that group is men.

Lying about rape and domestic violence is very standard practice among gender feminists, and has been for more than a decade as shown in Witch-Hunting Males at Youtube.
