New report says millions of women at risk of falling into poverty, economic ruin
Story here. Another sad story about how women have it bad and we need to do more to empower and help women. Men, not so much. Excerpt:
'Although in recent decades women have made historic advances in nearly all areas of American public life, a staggering number of women across the country are still teetering on the verge of poverty and economic disaster, a new report released Sunday shows.
...
And yet despite the discouraging signs of economic gender inequality, "The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink" features a wide range of potential remedies — from prospective policy initiatives to community programs. The authors of the report say that turning away from historical injustices and embracing a more equitable future will boost the U.S. economy.
One such recommendation that Shriver highlighted on Meet the Press on Sunday was for women to think of themselves “as providers, not being provided for.
”Many women who responded to the poll said they wished they had stayed in school longer and Shriver said fathers and husbands need to reinforce the mindset that women can set themselves up to be breadwinners.
...
"Leave out the women, and you don't have a full and robust economy. Lead with the women, and you do," Shriver wrote in the report. "It's that simple, and Americans know it."
...
"I have always believed that women are not victims," Clinton wrote. "We are agents of change, we are drivers of progress, and we are makers of peace. All we need is a fighting chance."
...
Shriver said that since women make up 54 percent of voters, “women are at the center of our country,” and Democrats and Republicans need to work together “to modernize our relationships to women.”“When women do well, men do well and the nation does well,” Shriver said.'

LMAO!
"Shriver said fathers and husbands need to reinforce the mindset that women can set themselves up to be breadwinners."
Considering the source... well anyway, it's beside the point who said that but more the actual content, right? I mean, fair's fair.
So just looking at the actual content, Maria S. lost 95% of the female audience (and I imagine at least 95% of the attendees were female). Well, they might be down with some of the things the other speakers said, but that? No.
And Hillary saying she's never viewed women as victims? Again, LMAO! Check out this classic: "Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today’s warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children. Women are again the victims in crime and domestic violence as well. Throughout our hemisphere we have an epidemic of violence against women, even though there is no longer any organized warfare that puts women in the direct line of combat. But domestic violence is now recognized as being the most pervasive human rights violation in the world. Here in El Salvador, according to the statistics gathered by your government, 1 in 6 women have been sexually assaulted and the number of domestic abuse complaints at just one agency topped 10,000 last year. Between 25 and 50 percent of women throughout Latin America have reportedly been victims of domestic violence."
In the entire speech, using "victim" or "victims" specifically, I counted that she mentions women as victims 9 times, and men as victims only once. The one time she mentions men as victims is in reference to men behind bars who have been victims of child abuse.
But the speech excerpt shown above first mentions women as victims of war because, among other things, they lose (you know, like losing a watch, or losing that $20k you had lying around) their male relatives in warfare.
So it's about the effects that has on women, less so on the men who were actually... KILLED.
This is The Hildebeast in action.
Plays into Obama threats on "Income Inequality"
Another voice of Democrats supporting chorus - it is I assume falling into line with recent POTUS pronouncements.
