Unfortunately, it's typical treatment for police of both sexes
For many offenses, esp. if no one got hurt or deprived substantially of property, police usually are not aggressively prosecuted. At the same time, for a first time DUI offense, it's common for ppl to get a heavy fine but no jail as long as no one was hurt. But usually one's license is at least limited for a time. In this case, that would make doing her job a serious problem and as long as she shows no signs of being loaded on the job, OK. But the expungement of her record? That's not typical treatment for the avg. DUI case. But as I said, police are often treated differently.
But considering that there have been many cases where police have done far worse that being impaired while driving and not faced any legal consequences, these matters seem trivial. The courts and DAs look at it this way: "Yes, some cops do bad things, but not all. They're the few bad apples that make ppl feel badly toward the whole bunch. But if we go after even the bad apples too hard, it'll make police officers who are already over-stressed ask themselves why they're doing this and not some other job. So we lay off."
And that's how it goes...
