The hardwired difference between male and female brains could explain why men are 'better at map reading'

'A pioneering study has shown for the first time that the brains of men and women are wired up differently which could explain some of the stereotypical differences in male and female behaviour, scientists have said.

Researchers found that many of the connections in a typical male brain run between the front and the back of the same side of the brain, whereas in women the connections are more likely to run from side to side between the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

This difference in the way the nerve connections in the brain are “hardwired” occurs during adolescence when many of the secondary sexual characteristics such as facial hair in men and breasts in women develop under the influence of sex hormones, the study found.

The researchers believe the physical differences between the two sexes in the way the brain is hardwired could play an important role in understanding why men are in general better at spatial tasks involving muscle control while women are better at verbal tasks involving memory and intuition.'

And as for sensitivity and women, well, aunt Agnes used to remind people of such wonderful things as their looming divorce hearings and most recent job terminations, right there in the middle of the living room at mixed gatherings!

I believe I am in the top 10 percent in math skills, despite being an engineer. I currently teaching myself abstract algebra (for use in dynamics) and now I hope to reach the top 5 percent.

But I know I will never be in that elusive top 1 percent in math. I know two people in that category and their minds think differently.

I wonder why feminists are so obsessed with that top one percent and do everything possible (from manipulating the core curriculum to flaccid pseudo-justifications and denials).

The fact is that the world does not move forward from the top 1 percent in math -- it moves forward from the top 20 percent. And this should be the goal of men and women: to get more girls and boys in that top 20 percent.

I really am coming to wonder if women will ever "populate" (with reasonable numbers) the top one percent. I wonder if math, in being a creation of the male brain, has a language that is essentially male. Or maybe it is simply that men are better at it. Maybe it really is the male ability to function on one side of the brain.

Instead, we have feminists who appear to be insane with rage and blind envy about the top one percent and I think they are maniulpating the curriculum so much that they are ruining it for girls. I think they are distilling the abstract nature of math and removing all its fun... they are making it an excercise in "plugging numbers." As this continues, the scores of girls will go up when the assessments get lowered to meet the lower standards. But by then, it really will not be math anymore. It will be "caclualtions."

I think it is quite easy to be in the top 20 and that should be the focus. Instead, we have girls not doing well in math and I am beginning to think we can lay this at the feet of feminists: their obsession with how the male mind works.

We all know that boys are doing poorly in reading. And we never hear of efforts help them. We only hear of efforts to help girls in math and science and engineering.

I have heard that boys in engineering classes are misogynist. But I believe that the issue is that the engineering classes are toxic because so many boys really do not want to be there. Many would prefer to be in the arts, or teaching. But they are not welcome there so they drift, grudgingly, into engineering.

And this creates toxicity in the classroom.

I am poised to suggest to feminists that if we want the girls to do better in engineering, we should recruit the boys into the arts and get them out of a classroom where they do not want to be. And I think that argument would work and I hate the fact that it would work. I hate the fact that it would only work because that phrasing would be to help girls in math and not help boys in reading. No matter. Once again, I lay the lack of girls in SMET at the feet of feminists and their obsession with the top 1 percent.
