UW student's 'rape culture' letter draws outrage

Article here. Excerpt:

'David Hookstead appears to be at the top of his game.

And his game is ticking people off.

Hookstead, a UW junior who studies political science, is the author of "'Rape culture' does not exist," a letter to the editor published in the Badger Herald Monday. By noon Tuesday the piece had drawn 467 comments — the vast majority of them hostile to Hookstead's views, but a significant number in support.

In essence, Hookstead argues, rape has been blown way out of proportion because women are prone to false accusations.'

(I am formerly bronxman... but I cannot hide in that closet of shame of being a man anymore. My name is Thomas Impelluso.)

Anyway, I thought I'd share this letter I wrote to the author of the article. He is being trashed by the feminists.

David:

I am an emeritus professor of mechanical engineering at San Diego State.
But I now live and work in Norway.

(Actually, my wife is Norwegian and we decided we did not want to raise our son in a country like the US that was so sexist against men.)

Anyway, like you, I have come to be disgusted by the shrill and/or vapid thoughts and words of American feminists and their unending hatred and vilification of men.

I am old enough to almost be your grandfather.

So with all due respect to your dad and grandad, allow me to use the term for
a moment and say: I admire you, my son.

Laying the foundation for men's rights is a difficult thing. I would not have had the courage when I was your age (or maybe I would today).

Odd, how feminists want to lay the blame for society's ills at the feet of men,
but when it comes time to recognize the power of men, that is when they claim
history ignored them (not for the bad --- just for the good).

I wish you well in this fight. Take the angry letters as a source of pride. Let them roar.

And in solitude, remember this. We men did it all...painting, music, choreography, sculpture, literature, poetry, math, philosophy, law, physics, biology, medicine, chemistry, architecture and engineering – men created almost all of it. Yes, we did bad things, I know. But if it was not for men, we’d still be living in grass huts. Focus your life on the goodness of being a man – like my father and his father and the father of us all.

If you ever need am ear to unload your feelings on the anger coming your way
by the feminists, I am here.

But I am sure you have many other good men around you to lean on.

Yours, my son, my brother, my father,

Thomas
