IA: Good Samaritan protest's impact

From Intact America:

Earlier this month, more than fifty intactivists gathered outside Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to protest its circumcision clamp study... and boy did we make an impact!

  • We know we made an impact because passers-by shouted their support—and, in some cases, their anger.
  • We know we made an impact because two TV stations showed up to cover our press conference, and the Yellow Springs News, from a nearby town, published my op-ed piece.
  • We know we made an impact because a hospital employee blogged about how our protest made circumcision a "major topic of conversation" among hospital staff.
  • We know we made an impact because the hospital released a statement responding to our presence.
  • We know we made an impact because all over Cincinnati, people saw our mobile billboard; it was “the talk of the town.”

If you haven’t already, please read my report from our protest—a protest which could not have happened without the support of thousands of intactivists like you. More than 6,400 people signed our letter (if you haven't signed it yet, it's not too late to add your name because we plan to send a second set later this year). And together we raised more than $10,000, with every penny going to our presence in Cincinnati.

Social change starts with one person saying out loud, "This is wrong." Look how long it took women to get the vote, how many decades it took for the Civil Rights movement to take hold. It takes time and effort and sacrifice. And together, between television coverage and social media, Intact America reached more than a hundred thousand people with our message!

With gratitude and respect,
